Re: LTROI among 50 best-selling horror DVDs sold
I hope this is a good place to post this question: what version of the DVD or Blue Ray would you all suggest I buy to get the most "extra" material (a U.S. version)?

If you can, get both US and UK Blu-Ray versions.RDB wrote:I hope this is a good place to post this question: what version of the DVD or Blue Ray would you all suggest I buy to get the most "extra" material (a U.S. version)?
They both share the same extras, but UK version has an essential feature length commentary by Thomas Alfredson and JAL.
Image quality is much better on US Blu-Ray disc. If that isn't that important to you, go ahead and get a UK disc. It will work in US BR players.
DVD version is Magnolia/Magnet pictures recent edition with adjusted theatrical subtitles and same extras from Blu-Ray minus commentary.

Did Magnolia/Magnet ever release a version with the correct theatrical subtitles? I've only been able to find a copy once or twice at nearby video stores, but none of them say anything specifically about restoring the original subtitles.

In terms of picture quality, this site has screenshots from both Blu-rays taken from the exact same scenes so you can compare for yourself:
US:
http://www.cinemasquid.com/blu-ray/movi ... 1c6d7f3e13
UK:
http://www.cinemasquid.com/blu-ray/movi ... d21a13d057
Basically the UK is slightly brighter.
If you don't mind downloading some (free) software, you can enter the image urls at this site to flip back and forth.

I prefer the UK edition because it comes with the commentary.

If it says "ENGLISH (Theatrical)" they're corrected.Did Magnolia/Magnet ever release a version with the correct theatrical subtitles? I've only been able to find a copy once or twice at nearby video stores, but none of them say anything specifically about restoring the original subtitles.
