Finally infected

Post by naxsah » Thu Aug 08, 2013 7:02 am

Been browsing through this site for a while now, read all the fan fics and most of the topics, finally decided to become an infected. Guess I should talk about how I got here:
I found out about the story from a video on youtube about the top 10 vampire movies and ltroi was at the top of the list. I only saw about 4 images from the movie and my first impressions were that the story was like this: Boy meets a girl who turns out to be a vampire and the girl is planning to eventually kill the boy. I was intriged by the image of bleeding Eli and I found out that the movie was based on a novel. So I bought the book and before reading it I watched the movie trailer. After finishing the book which I absolutely loved I watched the film, which I also ended up buying. I liked the movie so much that I kept rewatching it for a week, later on I found out that the book had a mini sequel and while researching it I found this site. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who is obsessed with the story.
Anyway that's my story and a big hello to all you infected.

Hello :)

I'll break open the story and tell you what is there. Then, like the others that have fallen out onto the sand, I will finish with it, and the wind will take it away.

I would dare to say becoming infected ain't a choise. It just happens, not that I would ever chose to lose it
Welcome anyway!! You were actually lucky enough to read the book before watching the movie. :D

Thanks for the welcoming guys. Lots of people sure seem to have a similar story to mine and hopefully like them I'll stay infected for a long time.

Naxsah, welcome. Be infected long and prosper! I'm new, too, and I love the welcome I got. I'm new both to LTROI (May) and to WTI (July). I'm on the side of "It's a love story. Get over it." The dark stuff is just a given--Oskar would kill his tormentors if he could, and he seems to be studying how to do it without leaving clues ("There was no smoke in the lungs."), and Eli is a vampire. That's dark enough for me. Reading wicked motives into Eli's behavior is just piling on. Eli and Oskar are both presented as victims who found each other and, for the duration of the film, find a way out of loneliness. I well up when I listen to the soundtrack because the story is beautiful. And it's capped off with two radiant smiles when Eli comes back for Oskar. What more could an old softy like me ask for!
“For drama to deepen, we must see the loneliness of the monster and the cunning of the innocent.”

Indeed, you were certainly infected before your "choice" to become infected, and we are so glad to have you here!

You know, there's not a day that goes by that I don't think about Oskar and Eli. Their connection has been such an inspiration for me. I hope to have a connection like that with somebody one day *sigh*

Enjoy the forums!
