I wonder...

Post by moonvibe34 » Thu Jan 07, 2010 9:40 pm

i wonder what took place after the pool scene and before the train scene. what was Oskar and Elis first conversation like after the rescue? how did they plot their escape? ect...
i have only sampled small portions of the fan fiction forum as i have yet to have the time to give each work the proper amount of focus it so rightfully deserves. if this topic has been addressed there i would appreciate some directions. if not what do you think?

I'm not aware of any post-pool/pre-train material out there as of yet. Definitely fertile ground for an inspired fan fiction writer though.

There's no way of knowing for certain. The movie offers no clues, nor does the novel. The novel offers (at least to me) the idea that Eli had something in mind. She had left most of her possessions in Oskar's care after Lacke's death, and she went "somewhere unknown" for some unknown reason.

If I was making a guess, I would think that Eli was away looking for a new hideout and planned to return for her possessions when she found something. However, Oskar's near death caused her to change plans quite suddenly. She might have talked Oskar into running away with her, especially if she felt he would eventually be killed if she left him in Blackeberg. In the book, Oskar and Eli are headed to Karlstad on the train. That's where she picked up Hakan. Maybe she had some friends there?????

One guess is as good as another, I suppose.

What you need to do is start your own fan fiction beginning with the pool incident. I'm sure we will all read it. ;)

i had forgot about their destination. i read the book so fast. i need to read it again. i appreciate the vote of confidence but i'll stick to writing the short stuff and let the truly gifted writers here handle Oskar and Eli. ;)

I've checked in the novel, and actually Eli picked up Håkan in Växjö, and not in Karlstad.

This isn't the first time this discussion pops up. Many suggestions i forwaded, and I must say most of them are plausible.
Due to the killing of Lacke and zombie Håkan, things escalated out of hand rather quickly. So Eli probably didn't have time to move properly.
On the other hand - (s)he didn't even try. They used the time left to be together. Only when the police was closing in they stowed Eli's belongings away in the cellar. The priority is clear: Oskar is more important than moving.
