I hate to admit it but I do agree with this guy, even thought I like Let Me In just as much as I like Let The Right One In. But as I have stated before if it wasn't for Let Me In I wouldn't have discovered Let The Right One In.

I understand that people dont like Let Me In. But this honestly is destructive towards the original film. There are people who have never heard of LTROI and have only heard of LMI. By seeing LMI it opens up the door into the world not only of LTROI but also JAL. As I have stated before not everyone who saw LMI first is a lazy American who doesnt like to read subtitles. A lot of us had never heard of LTROI.

LMI was beautifuly done. Maybe not as much as the original movie but who cares? Is it somehow taking away from LTROI by exsisting? If anything it adds to it in that it can introduce people to such a great story and movie and if JAL supports it than so should his fans.

I really wish the whole battle between LTROI and LMI would end.

Blah blah blah blah blah...

The movie was made. Get over it. Lots of people disagree with you and love it. Get over it. You don't like it. Well, let us all get over that as well. Puh-leeze!

Oh, and not to be too preachy there is another reason to make an English language version of a foreign film apart from "people can't be bothered to read subtitles." Why did Kurosawa turn Macbeth into Throne of Blood? Mores specifically, why did it make it a samurai epic instead of simply changing the language? Because "language" means more than the words spoken or the grammar used. It is also a thousand thousand little nuances, in-jokes, historical references, puns, homynims, etc. that work on an emotional level in the process of communicating. LTROI isn't just spoken in Swedish, but its gestures are Swedish, as are its shapes and colors and silences. All of which are different from English language (more specifically American) versions of the same. LMI successfully transplanted Lindqvist's story to a different milieu. The sexuality, the presence of police, the religious references, the attitudes towards alcoholism, etc. are all very very American and form an inherent part of the structure of this different film.

Frankly, this video isn't even a review. It is rant by someone smug eager to judge anyone who dares to love a film he did not (and which he obviously went in with so many preconceptions he could not possibly see the film positively--it isn't that he saw LTROI first, it is that he was the person watching both those films).
