Under the bridge

Post by shaggles » Tue Aug 16, 2011 10:16 pm

I watched LTROI the other night on my Roku player and I thought it sounded like it actually might be Lina's voice saying "help me" to lure Jocke under the bridge rather than Elif Ceylan. She definately sounds more like a child there (for obvious reasons.) I'm sure this has been discussed here (what aspect of this movie hasn't) but I can't find it. Anybody know the answer to this?

I don't know, but I suspect that the harmonics of another voice than Elif's would be very noticeable...

Under the bridge downtown
Is where I drew some blood
Under the bridge
I could not get enough
Under the bridge
Forgot about my love
Under the bridge
I gave my life away.

RHCP
Entirely off-topic, but, I do like that song. :D

It would be nice if it was Lina's voice, even if it was only two words.

I'll have to watch again to be sure. But you might be right.

Listened to it, it is definitely Elif's voice, it sounds consistent with the rest of Eli's voice during the rest of the conversation with Jocke.

It would seem a bit strange to allow Lina to have 2 words in the film, then over-dub the entire rest, so I have to agree with abner.
It would also be interesting to see the clauses in Lina's contract with EFTI that permitted them to have over-riding artistic control to the extent they could completely remove her voice from the film.
It is extremely rare for any artist to have full artistic control, only Tom Petty, George Michael, Madonna, and Bjork have this in the music industry, so I would guess an unknown 11 year old girl is in no position to object to being used as a hand-puppet.

In an interview, Lina even said she was happy that they overdubbed her voice...
But from the beginning Eli was just Eli. Nothing. Anything. And he is still a mystery to me. John Ajvide Lindqvist

Yeah, she liked the fact that her voice was dubbed because she thinks her voice is squeaky :D

I believe she also said the liked the fact that she was dubbed because it meant that she could just close her eyes to not have to see herself on the screen and she could still listen to the lines since it wasn't her voice.

That's the one thing that would suck about making a movie is because if it's really good, you wouldn't really be able to get full enjoyment because you were involved in making it, especially if you're on screen.
