Spreading the Infection

Most things like this I do usually keep to myself...and I kept LTROI to myself for a long time. As mentioned before, I had the pleasure of reading the book before I saw the film...I read the book the year it was published in Australia (was a Blind Buy and a hell of a Blind Buy)...it wasn't untill the film came out that I really started pushing it on people...and a large part of that came from the bad taste of Twilight that was lingering in most people's mouths. My friends would bitch about it constantly, so my thought was game on...you want a good Vampire, go see this Vampire movie.
Some stuff I still keep to myself, but LTROI was something I desperately wanted other people to see just to see whether it would spark the same level of conversation that I read on these boards.
I am always curious though to see how people outside of these boards react to it on first watch...out of everything obscure I tend to like, I can safely say that this is the only one I've been really pushing on people.
I do get the mentality of you can't force someone to like something though...for years people have been pushing Stargate SG-1 on me and I have refused to join in on that liking every damn time

Unlike you I did not read the book before seeing the movie and when I finally watched the film it was years after the initial release...The book came after that...However I quickly realized that the film was so special and so unusual that in many cases it would be a losing battle to try and make someone appreciate the film the way I do....It's almost impossible to make others see through your eyes...and in the past I learned that unless a movie, book, poem or a painting is universally loved you will have a hard time trying to make others understand what it is exactly that you see there and why is it so worthy of attention.
PS: I really don't need to "spread the infection". I'm convinced of that every time I check out this website and see the huge number of people that gather here for one reason and one reason only....Infection has been spread and pretty successfully....There's lots of sick people here.

I curiously did ask the original question cause I was interested to see if anyone had shown the movie/book to anyone of their friends/family/loved ones and how exactly they reacted to it. To which some people have and others have decided not to...I do find this fascinasting...I find most Cult Movies fascinating for this reason. Like why is it such a select grouping of people will fall absolutely in love with a film? Yet for others, that may not be the case...I find that whole idea fascinating in itself
Like I said, I do get the mentality that you can't force someone to like something you love. My original posting was probably a poor choicing of words at that...I mean I have friends who (like I mentioned) aren't as enthralled with it as I was and I'm totally fine with that. That's why I like this board of "Sickos" so much
Re: Spreading the Infection
I just wanted to say that my 11 yearold Niece loved it, wanted to see it again and ask questions about it every now and then. She even wants to play a game with me. That she sucks my blood, and then breaks my neck.. Hooww.. cute...
She also laughed and said when Oskar was on the bus to his fater. While playing with that red small figure that it was the lamest toy ever. It didn't do anything. xD

She have told me after 3 viewings of LTROI that it's that kind of movie that is funny to watch many times. But listen to this, not only does she want to learn morse-code. But she wants me and her to do a bloodpact FOR REAL!! I can't belive I've infected my very own niece. I promise you guys, with her and MicaMe, this is all a coinsidence. I have no restepy!

Re: Spreading the Infection
I spotted on her handpalm that she have written "Låt den ratte komma in" with a heart around it. Yeah, she is. She don't understand english enough to enter the forum, but I don't mind that. But it's very interesting to get a child's view on this
