The Shadow part of all of us, added per capita into a mighty collective current of fear, rage and desperate greed, is what has created Hell on earth, right here and now; and to me Eli is obviously an avatar of the Shadow, of the darker. more predatory side of human nature. Many humans alive today have much, much bloodier hands than our lost, and ultimately blameless child vampire.

Sauvin, over New Year, rightly identified that she represents something in him that is crying out for recognition and acceptance, and I approached the same notion from the angle that s/hEli gives us an image of the more-or-less-damaged Child part of us all.

Even the Shadow longs for love.

Ah, I realy liked that one!!! :D

Eli is also a metafor for all that Oskar can not d, his inner self sort of. But as I assume, his veiw of killing cganges through out the movie as he gets to see it for real. In Eli. But also a qoute from a Let me in trailer, hate to bring that up. Sorry..) "Everybody needs a friend. ".. :)

Eli is a human being in a vampire's body :D .

If it were only that simple.
To live without love, is death never ending. To live with out ever loving is not knowing the greatest gift.

Yes, the knife-dropping is a symbolic renunciation of violence - fantasies are one thing, being confronted with the real thing is another. Alfredson has said that he views the two characters as two sides of the same coin, and that Eli is in some sense almost the personification of Oskar's rage (Matt Reeves has said essentially the same thing about Abby).

I didn't know Matt have said that. When I saw Let me in. Like,, that didn't acured to me. As it does much more in LTROI. Owen have some fantasies about killings as he just like Oskar stabbs the three. But what about the newpaper articles? And Owen as I (remember, please correct me) don't through the knife. There is much more that don't give me a thought in LMI as it does in LTROI. But I won't dive in to that since this is a topic for something else :)

Yes, Eli is a vampire in a human body. WELL SAID. Or, I would also say that the extra brain(The vampire) is the animal that takes over Eli's body when she gets hungryer. And when it's fed, the animal is calm and Eli is as free as a normal human at least for a few days. (If you overlook the sunlight and "you have to say that I can come in" part) XD Oh.. easy peasy I see..

I'd say it's a severe case of tug-of-war-snydrome.
