LTROI play at Uppsala Stadsteater

LTROI is making it's way to the theatre - an adaptation is going to be played at Uppsala Stadsteater. Director is Jakob Hultcrantz Hansson, and the premiere is set to March 16, 2011.

It would be interesting to see LTROI on stage; just to see how it turns out. I hope it's so darned successful that they have to take it on a World Tour. Heck, I'll settle for a localized North Carolina tour.

But it's sad in a way. Lina and Kåre are now too big to play the leads.

"Unbridled lust"? I guess maybe this will be more of an adaptation of the novel than of the film. Even in the novel, the only lustful character was Håkan, and his lust was "bridled" - at least until went all zombie. Are they really going to portray zombie Håkan on stage?

Ruh roh. If it ever makes it to The States, someone will want to make it into musical. I can picture it in my in my mind - zombie Håkan prancing around the stage singing, "Spring time for, zombies, and vampirism. Winter for Tommy, and Eliiiiii".

I didn't like that unbridled thing either. Could be the people writing the article. They also misspelled Lindqvist.
The piece played before LdRKI is Gjengangere (Ghosts) by Henrik Ibsen (what a coincidence!), and they are calling the drama a thriller. Imo the core story of LTROI has the potential of making an equally good play if treated good.

I guess it is difficult to actually use children for a play like this. Damn child labour laws!

Interesting casting choices from the androgyny point of view, unless they are changing the gender as well as the age of the two leads. Ruh-Roh! that leads the door wide open for some unbridled lust on stage.
