Another LTROI-related nightmare: It was about Eli, who was somehow cured of vampirism (Oskar never appeared nor was mentioned in the dream). She was going to an English-language school and living with some English-speaking family (but their home did not appear British or American at all), it was the parents and two sons in their late teens. The family seemed to be extremely rich and their house was vast. Apart from going to school, Eli didn't seem to do anything other than run around by herself and hide in dark corners in the house (even though sunlight was no longer harmful to her) and had taken to dressing in plain black clothes. The entire family largely ignored her; the mother seemed oblivious to everything (and may have been an alcoholic, or at least acted like a quiet drunk), and everyone else was too focused in their own lives to pay Eli much attention; she didn't have any friends. Eli's mental health was rapidly deteriorating and it had become obvious to the teachers at school but they were ignored. At one point when Eli was playing alone in the garden she seemed to reach some sort of decision or conclusion - it wasn't clear what sort, except that there was something terrible about it, and she rushed past the mother (who was acting like she was going to pass out any moment) and into the house and to the upper floor, where the lights were off. Meanwhile, one of the sons came across some sort of report from school that detailed the signs of Eli's mental health problems - there were notes saying Eli thought she talked to the dead, and there were some drawings, presumably by Eli (the one I remember was just abstract patterns of red and black). The son seemed to finally grasp Eli's plight (and seemed genuinely concerned for her), he went to the father and told him about it; the father became both angry (seemingly at Eli) and alarmed. They somehow figured out that Eli had become deranged and murderous (a conclusion that seemed entirely correct in the dream) and was hiding in the upper floor. They rushed upstairs, for some reason not turning on the lights, to look for her, realising that she had lots of places to hide. The end.
There seemed to be some sort of light and darkness symbolism with Eli rushing out of the brightly sunlit garden into the house (with the mother uselessly standing at the entrance), then to the opposite end of the house, which was the most poorly lit part of the ground floor, and upstairs to the dark upper floor, to hide in the deepest shadows. My dreams have been rather bizarre lately...

That's what Scrooge said, until the PS3 exclusive Demon's Souls devoured his mind.

Thanks for sharing this with us. You must've written this down right after you woke up because I can almost never remember dreams with this level of detail after more than an hour or so has passed. Seems to me the overarching theme is that parental neglect can kill a child just as easily as outright abuse. And maybe, in general, you view Eli as a misunderstood victim. Not sure.

Sorry, Covenant. T-T I'm really 95% PS3 gamer now. Used to have L4D1 & 2 on 360. Now, I have em on the PC. Free updates and DLC ftw! If you're ever by any chance playing on the pc version, I'll join you some time.

Or Hey! If you have Dead Rising 2, I'll join you in that as well!

To stay on topic, that's quite an interesting dream lombano. I've never really had any nightmares about Oskar or Eli. I always have some weird dreams though. Like one time a few months back, I dreamed I was getting a ride from Oskar. He and Eli hadn't seen each other in a long time... or something. Really wish I had written the dream down. But eventually, we stopped at a Best Buy (lol wut) and we spoke for a little bit more. I asked if he wanted to hang out and he said he couldn't because he had to do something.

On a side note: I'm quite happy that this thread still seems to be ticking.

A while ago, my vampire "knowledge" coming from japanimation (esp. Vampire Hunter D), underground comics, video games and LTROI mixed up in a weird, but somehow pleasant dream.

I dreamt I met Oskar sitting under an underpass, with Eli wrapped in a blanket, begging for help. Pretty much the same tactic she used on Jocke. The scene, however, played out in that I called them by name, thus giving them the scare of their lives, but then cutting both my forearms open and feeding each one of the kids (so she turned Oskar, after all). Them some stupid technobabble followed, indicating I was some kind of evolved dhampir-thingie (a dhampir is a half breed between a vampire and a human) and only needed small amounts of blood on a regular base to keep my body functions intact and myself from falling into a torpor (courtesy of Vampire Hunter D, not Daybreakers), but could otherwise reproduce and multiply the blood I ingested, to amounts even beyond my vascular capacity (some Resident Evil-like stuff, I guess). Quite some fancy abilities. With a helper like that, Oskar and Eli wouldn't have to worry for their blood supply anymore. I can't remember how that dream ended, but it was full of strange references to all kind of cultural garbage I fed my brain with.

You play demon's souls? awesome game isn't it ;)? Though I am currently stuck on king Allant who seem near impossible, any tip of how to beat him?

Anyway, back on topic. I am suprised about the number of times I dream something related to LTROI. It is actually a 50% chance for my dreams to include Eli in one form or another. However remembering these dreams are not the easiest thing in the world, and some are just near impossible to explain because they make absolutely no sense. Normally when trying to explain a dream, I have to try to make some sense to sometimes vague and out of context images.

Lombano's dream sounds intresting. It almost suggest that vampirism may not be the root of Eli's unhappiness after all ;) . I hope I dream something even half that intresting. If I dream something related to LTROI I will write about it, there is a total of 50% chance you may hear about some weird dream from me tomorrow, especially since I all currently re-reading the book.

PS
Tapetrve, that last dream was definatly something I would like to dream :D
