100% on Rotten Tomatoes
ok, so that's only based on 8 reviews, but that's normally a good indication that it will wind up with a high score on the Tomatometer. Especially if you look at the glowing blurbs below.
Shall I go for the gratuitous "Guess the Tomatometer" game? I say 75%.

Update 09-21-10:
Now at 9 reviews, still 100%.
Average guess by us: 75.25%
But the most recent reviewer expresses a lot of frustration that Reeves did not deviate much from the original, and that was always my greatest fear for LMI. I'm a little worried.

Re: 100% on Rotten Tomatoes
I am guessing a 67.
Yeah. I don't have high expectations for this at all.

Re: 100% on Rotten Tomatoes
I think it will drop to about 65-70% come October.
Its funny, there are people on Facebook who keep trying to tell me that 100% score will stay. I want some of what their smoking
Sure those early reviews are positive, but you can't tell me that there won't be critics out there that will take a crap on it and call it out as being "good but why bother at all?"
I still think come October, we will see some negative reviews pop in and that score will drop to a 65-70% area

I think it would be around 82%, well-reviewed but won't be a hit. Although it would be fun to see LMI debut at the top of the box office, here's hoping.

Well, let's see what it's up against. It looks like the only other "big name" movie is "The Social Network," and I call it a "big name" movie cause it's directed by David Fincher, certainly not because of that dork leading man. I'd almost rather see Justin Timberlake taking over the lead and those who know me know that's saying a lot.cmfireflies wrote:Although it would be fun to see LMI debut at the top of the box office, here's hoping.
It looks like the only other contender is "Case 39", a movie I know nothing about and would not feel threatened by if it weren't for the fact that it were a horror movie. LMI was *this* close to being the only horror movie on the marquee this friday. But luckily LMI has the cooler title. That should be enough. And it has vampires.
SO. I predict LMI gets #1 at the box office on opening weekend, although just barely. Maybe a $30 million take. Total gross? Maaaaybe $100 million. I'd be pleasantly surprised. Probably more like $80 million.

Well I did like zombieland which is the only movie I saw him in.armyofdorkness wrote:Well, let's see what it's up against. As long as it doesn't flop because of the coming vampire blashlash, I'll be happy. Case 39 is apparently so horrible that it was made last year and pushed back to now. I really don't see the reason for a facebook movie, so I don't think that'll be stiff competition. Hopefully Reeve's name will be the tipping point for people on the fence about the movie.

Dude I fucking loved Zombieland. Funny you should mention that because I was just rewatching it for fun not 1 hour ago.cmfireflies wrote:Well I did like zombieland which is the only movie I saw him in.
He reminds me so much of that kid from "Kick Ass" that I keep thinking that he was in "Kick Ass", then I remember that he wasn't in "Kick Ass," then I remember that his kind of look is just "in" right now and I get depressed.
Anyway, I'm just hoping that people decide to go to the movies on that weekend, and when they do it looks to me like "Let Me In" is going to be an obvious choice because it's an R-rated horror movie about a vampire and a preteen in love which was, let's admit it, a big draw for the original.

I agree that it will probably be around 75%~80% after a while. I kind of take Rotten Tomatoes reviews with a grain of salt though, don't agree with all the ratings. (Piranha 3D is sitting at a 76% haha.)

Re: 100% on Rotten Tomatoes
I remember watching Inception and Shutter Island on Rottentomatoes before they had their opening weekend. Both were 100% up until they opened. Inception is now at 87% and Shutter Island 67% so anything can happen. I'd guess somewhere around 80-85%.
Re: 100% on Rotten Tomatoes
I thought "The Social Network" was excellent (terrific script and direction), but I do wonder how they are going to market it. "Case 39" has been sitting around since, what, 2007 (filmed in 2006), I'm surprised it's even getting a theatrical release. I doubt seriously that it will do well beyond the first weekend...it's basically nothing that horror fans haven't seen before.
"Let Me In", though, has its own challenges. Typically 'R' rated files with kids in the lead roles don't do particularly well at the box office, although good word of mouth could help. What may happen is that the tweens & teens will buy tickets for whatever PG/PG-13 flick is playing that same weekend and sneak into LMI.
