There is something that doesn't quite make sense in that test screening review over on AICN
We never get Abby’s back story, which according to the cast list of IMDB I have a feeling was at least considered if not filmed
But wait a minute, in the teaser we get these two shots

Sooo...were they holding back the flashback at said screening? Or did it make the cutting floor and has it been edited out? I'm a little confused now, those two images have obviously got to be the flash backs right? Yet the reviewer mentions that there is no back story for Abby? So does that mean the flash back got cut out, or are they hiding it from test audiences because its not complete? Or something else?

I do agree with some of the others here, in the first reveal shot of Abby in that trailer, she does kind of look a little boyish in that Hoodie...whether that's a concious choice or not I'm not sure. But everything is still pointing to the fact that their not going with the Androgynous angle...I don't know its kind of interesting as a whole...I'm personally still doubting that they're going to do the "Elias" side of the story at all, but I don't know its all just very interesting.

Is it October yet? Wake me up when its October...or when another trailer comes out :)

Maybe that's what Reeves wants to market as "provocative".

I noticed the same thing, it wouldn't be the first time that scenes featured on the trailer are nowhere to be seen in the finished movie. Maybe the test screenings had something to do with it?

Or devastating.

I've just seen this and I'll try and mention something that I don't think has been brought up yet, I thought that the sets and locations looked good. There was a retro feel to it and it had that whole cold and claustrophobic (sp?) thing going too.

I'm not too bothered about the music and fast edits, I doubt that they'll be in the finished product. I'm less happy with the the close ups of Abby's feet (give us credit please) and Owen's weirdness (that mask and frantic tree stabbing) but I'm fairly happy with what I've seen so far.

It's hard to say how good the leads' performances will be just from that trailer, so I'll just say that Abby looks better than I thought she would, blood make-up excluded ;)

I'll let you know if they show it with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse when I get back to London as I'm still in Bangkok atm :)

Well, I don't like the set pieces, especially not the lighting. Looks too artificial and incoherent.

Exactly what I said back on page 3 ..... That shot has to be of the 200 year old monster. Over at IMDB they have in the credits a V J Foster playing the "Original Vampire." I'd say this is he in the flashback scene.
Here's a better look at him (the noses match up ;) ) = http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0288106/

Okay, now that's a really nasty creature. Old Eli seemed more tired than anything. This dude looks like... a 200 year old homosexual pedo. There, I said it  .

So even if Abby does not turn out to be Abraham, maybe there will still be a "Bli mig lite" scene. Of course, I'd be happiest to find that Matt is going to have Abby really be an Elias, and that he purposely kept all mention of it out of the test screenings. In Alfredson's film, even if you don't realize exactly what is portrayed in the peek scene, you understand that Eli has been the victim of some horrible abuse. Like Eli, Abby must be a tragic figure, otherwise the love story with Owen will lose a lot of its power. But unless Matt wants to come on here and post about it, I suppose we'll have to wait until October to know for sure.
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

Also, keep in mind that test screenings are just that: test screenings.

Perhaps, if enough people kick up a storm regarding the whole "making the caretaker a previous Owen" thing, Reeves will wise up and cut it. Bigger changes have been made to movies after test screenings didn't go over well. For example, originally, in 'Deep Blue Sea', LL Cool J's character was supposed to die and the female scientist was supposed to live. But, when test screen audiences reacted in anger and disgust to the female scientist (as she basically caused everything that went wrong in the movie) and favourably towards LL Cool J's character, they switched it so that she died and he lived.

One can only hope...
