Little Scenes in LTROI That Make Me Laugh

Post by a_contemplative_life » Wed May 05, 2010 3:52 am

The startled look on Eli's face when Oskar's mom buzzes the door, and Oskar whisks her away from the living room and down the hall toward his bedroom.

I also like the scene that follows that one. Oscar rushes into his room and is surprised to see that Eli isn't there, he looks out of the window to see Eli sitting on her window ledge waving to him after having flown there :)

I like the scene where Oskar tells Eli to go home cuz he's lived there longer than her. That smirk is win!

I also like the basement scene where Eli presses the play button on the tape player. When the music plays, she steps back cuz it's too loud and then she lowers the volume.

Yea, that was kinda cute, wasn't it? "Boy, I sure told HER, didn't I!?"

You'd back up, too, if you had the kind of hearing that tells you about a cat's paw hitting the soft, mossy ground on the other side of the forest.

I like that particular part of that scene for a very different reason: it's the only one I can remember where we see Eli relaxed, comfortable, confident, happy and smiling. The centuries old vampire is in way over her head and doesn't know it yet: she's in love the way only a twelve year old can be.

Yeah, Sauvin, that's another good reason to like it. :3 I like that Oskar seems to be on top of the world there as well.

Eli's first line in the movie and Oskar's answer.

Also Ricky the Poodle.

I know I shouldn't laugh, but the death of Martin. The way it is shot and the timing I think is what does it for me.

Another is Oskar looking out his window the morning after Eli has agreed to go steady.

I'll break open the story and tell you what is there. Then, like the others that have fallen out onto the sand, I will finish with it, and the wind will take it away.

After asking about the evening weight program, Oskar seem to daydream a moment about himself "being strong." The look on his face after basically being told to, "Get Out" is great.

Eli's look after Oskar tells her, "you smell funny"

BTW ...Great idea for a thread

Well it doesn't make me laugh but at the end of the scene where Eli kicks Hakan out of his room so that she can communicate with Oskar through the wall she looks back towards Hakan and flashes an excited smile when he is finally gone. That smile makes me smile. :)

I think that's his reaction to how Ávila speaks Swedish. He says something weird like "you can make strong" or something like that, but I think the only subs that got this right were on that not-so-legal screener versions.

I like the scene where Lacke is talking to one of the cats, explaining how things went wrong with Blackeberg. I don't know why but the very first time I noticed that he is talking to a cat was only when I saw the film in a theatre, and it got me LOLling.
And we danced, on the brink of an unknown future, to an echo from a vanished past.
