Watching the film this morning

Post by Stormchoir » Mon Jan 17, 2022 7:35 am

This film was so impactful to me when i saw this on netflix so many years ago. It still strikes such a chord with me 12ish years later. In fact, it was my need for more, to delve deep into the authors world in search of fan fiction that brought me to this board, i cant believe its been nearly a lifetime but im glad that its still here.

Sounds like how I got here. Uh, but for me it was about 2 or 3 weeks -ish after seeing the movie. 12 yrs is a long time to have suffered  In other words: welcome back!

Have you read the book or watched the American remake?

Yes this forum is like an ancor of the internet in my mind :) I haven't watched the movie in a few years now but in my defence, I watched it every day for a year, every week for 2 years and every month for a year. That is wild to think about now. I sould watch it again soon, I don't think I have the DVD anymore. But I do have it on my external hard disc.

Aaanyway, yeah welcome back ;)

I can't even remember how I found this place anymore?

Maybe it was IMDB? I mean I was posting a lot on IMDB forums back in the day and maybe someone mentioned it there...or was it just a random google search? I honestly can't even remember anymore...hell, I'm not even on my first original account anymore (I lost the email address attached to it and had to start fresh when I couldn't log in to it because I'd forgotten the password)

Yeah, in answer to the OP, this book and film has had its fangs in me ever since they first came out. Ever since the book came out in Australia, Eli's had her fangs in me

It's hard to believe its been over 10 years now as is. It feels like yesterday that I was in that cinema watching the film version for the first time.

@danielmann861, I am envious that you saw the film in a cinema. I stumbled upon LTROI only once it reached a TV streaming service. And I too was badly bitten. Yet when I saw it, I was able to recall that our local movie cinema had recently had up posters for it ~ so they must been showing it and not missed out. :( And also like you, I remember the first time I saw it ~ which was at some point of the last two weeks of Novermber 2010. Oooh, was it that long ago? :| And as with @intrige, I no longer have the DVD (something terrible happened to it and I had to throw it out) and have not seen the movie in a number of years. But, I do live with the story in my head and have about five copies of the book ~ and I do use those.

Summer 2010 for me, one night in the midnight sun out my bedroom window, I found the trailer on youtube and found a way to watch it on my old big box of a computer. Oh it was an experience, I had never felt so stronly about a story before, so I watched again right away. The next day, I watched it again and found out some details about Eli from a comment on a post from I donno where. And I figured I could read the book, I found it at the book store and read it in two days, my own personal record at the time. I am a slow reader. I was just 16 then, probably a bit too young to read such horrid material but I didn't care. I Put up my camera that I had gotten as a conformation precent the year before on a stack of books on my computer chair and filmed the entire movie on it, as I did not know how to download it yet. I found the forum and started mixing videos with songs like All the things she said by tatu or we naver change by coldplay. The latter gk screenshotted into his profile picture on this forum. Which is so fun for me because every time I see him on this forum and see that image, it all comes flooding back to me and brings a smile on my face. Life was simpler then.

Yes, it's true that my avatar is taken from one of @intrige's vids. But I don't remember which one. Oh, and your vids were good, and you had so many! I thought of you as being feverish in your infection  . You made a great number of videos at what seemed a regular pacing for a long time. I really really hope you understand you showed back then that you have a talent for mixing videos, putting music to them, and shooting your own. I very much hope you continue to try shooting videos and working on video editing at some time. Or maybe you are doing these things and are not sharing? lol

It's been a few years since I've watched the film, although like GK says, it's constantly there in the background on subliminal repeat. I don't remember the exact date I first saw it, sadly not on the big screen. Watched the film, read the book, then saw Let Me In at the cinema, joined this forum. I initially "borrowed" the film online but have since bought it on DVD and twice on Bluray (Hardback and audiobook, Swedish paperback) so my piraty activities can be excused :D

I very much enjoyed Intrige's videos back in the day, very unconventional.

Thank you so much you guys, I am in fact not editing videos, if I did I think I would publish it somewhere. I had a nack for it for sure, maybe I'll make something out of it someday. Oh yeah my infection was quite feverish, I made lots of drawings (I have a thick folder of physical drawings all for just LTROI) wrote at least one song about it that I posted on youtube and here. Wrote poems, made videos ofc, and fan-fictions, lots and lots of 'em, man I did a lot. :o It feels kinda unbelieveable lol. I write on my own stuff now a days but I am not very productive, and I only draw a little bit. Mostly of my characters from my stories. I don't play much anymore, nor do I sing. Maybe I peeked in hight school as they say, not socieally but productivity wise? The home videos were the most fun, even dragged my best friend into it summer 2011, before 22 july(the terrorist attack) We are still best friends to this day and remembers it fondly :)

@intrige , your avatar is from one of your films. Yes? I remember one with an image much like this, but I do not know the title you might have given it. @Jameron, your avatar is great as well, just not from the 'intrige collection'
