Here's a new MTV interview with the director, in which he talked about his vision for the film, casting choice, fans' criticism and so on. A short audio clip from the interview is also included.

Thanks Tom. Ive meant to thank you a few times because you seem to find good stuff and share it.

I couldnt believe the first time I heard that they were going to remake this. I was pissed to say the least but now am excited because
A - It'll kick Twilights ass
B - It'll shed some more light on the original
C - JAL asked me to be ok with it.

I just hope it is good

Im still not ok with the remake bug thats going around though.

That statement implies that either Matt Reeves is in try-hard mode or wanted to crack a joke , every advertisement of chocolate could be darker than Twilight.

No, Matt Reeves is serious about LMI being darker. Twilight is the vampire story everyone has seen and will compare this to. The original swedish film provoked many reviews that compared it to Twilight. Usually they would say something like "all vampire movies don't have to be utter crap."

Who said he wasn´t ? And the content at hand basically prevents the movie from not being darker in general than twilight.
