- Tomas Alfredson is interviewed by Bright Lights Film Journal at the 2008 Thessaloniki International Film Festival. This is is where he discussed the decision to cut the castration scene.
- Tomas Alfredson is interviewed by DreadCentral.com in this undated interview that apparently took place sometime in late fall of 2008. In it Alfredson offers a key piece of insight on why this film is so visually compelling:
My intuition is that you have to find out what not to show. It's always about framing... what you should catch out of the frame as well as on the soundtrack so it's always about what not to show and that's very, very specific when you make scary things. It's all about not showing them.
