Let the old dreams die question (please answer)

Post by argoe4 » Tue Nov 13, 2012 1:46 am

Hello, I'm knew here to we, the infected, but as soon as I saw the movie let the right one in I feel in love with Oskar and Eli. The end of the movie leaves a lot of question unanswered, and I would like to know what happens next to Eli and Oskar. I know there is a knew book called let the old dreams die, but I just can find it anywhere, and frankly i'm just to cheap to buy it. So I ask of you this one thing, to the people who have read this book. Could you please tell me what happens to Eli and Oskar. It would be greatly appreciated if you could add as much detail as possible, thank you!

Hey there new blood! Pity you couldn't find the book. I found some things online for a looong time ago, a transelation from swedish to english.(well actually I also read the swedish cause I understand that too) After it came out in sweden for .. what a year ago? After I read it I started writing on my very first FF, Bloody Romantic. Chapter two is all dedicated to the epiologe. I changed the Pov from the ticketman to Oskar, but that's basicly the biggest difference. The rest of it I based off the epiologe. Oskar and Eli's convesation is also made up by me.

The book is not available in US, but it is for sale on E-Bay. I suggest you try to find it since it's full of other good pieces by John Ajvide Lindquist.
It's much better to read the story yourself then to get a second hand information. Welcome to We, The Infected, by the way.

You guys get paper walls with the novella Let the old dreams die, in it. Paper walls was really good. So I do reccoment buying it anyway. The book Let the old dreams die, on the other hans was not that good. But that as JAL himself even admitted.
You sure seem very much infected. ;)

Not as good? Were some stories left out?

I'll break open the story and tell you what is there. Then, like the others that have fallen out onto the sand, I will finish with it, and the wind will take it away.

no, some are old screenplays, some are older stories. But the stories in Paper walls were much better. Much more exiting. Just that :) It's individual I am sure. ;)

English book Let The Old Dreams Die = Swedish book Pappersväggar + the short story Let The Old Dreams Die.

The Swedish book Låt de gamla drömmarna dö contains the short story Låt de gamla drömmarna dö (Let The Old Dreams Die) in addition to other works by John Ajvide Lindqvist. Some of these are of less interest to an international audience.
But from the beginning Eli was just Eli. Nothing. Anything. And he is still a mystery to me. John Ajvide Lindqvist

What I think is a loss to international fans is that they miss the transcription of the radio program Sommar i P1 (aired summer 2006). It really gives depth to the autobiographical side of LTROI, and for me at least it has become a significant part of how John goes about his stories. He tells a lot of his childhood, and the parallels to LTROI are striking.
