Goosebumps

On page 17 of the novel (English translation) it mentions Oscar's book collection includes Goosebumps.
I believe that series of young adult horror stories was not written until the early 1990's.

That's right, R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series was first published in 1992. Ah, sweet childhood memories...

Oskar should rather have read John Sinclair (Germany's finest export in pulp fiction) :D .

EDIT: I just did some research: The Goosebumps series was apparently not realeased in Sweden until the early 2000s - and not under its proper title (which would be "Gåshud" in Swedish), but among the popular paperback series Kalla Kårar, which as such exists since the 70ies and features a whole span of popular literature from horror to sci-fi. I guess JAL maybe didn't even intend to refer to Stine, but just made up a fictional series of pulp fiction for his novel - which just happened to share its title with Stine's novel series.
