I must be one few who actually did have a coworker to discuss the movie with. He was an older gentleman who was a huge novel and film enthusiast. I don't think he was as mesmerized by the story as I was, but it was still nice to have somebody there to talk about the film with. I recommended the book to him, but he has since taken a position at a different location within the company. Don't know if he got around to reading it or not. Oh well...

Showed the film to my grandmother. She loved it! Gonna watch it with a friend and hopefully my uncles as well.

This is what I love most about this forum. I love reading new members first post reactions from this beautiful film. It's like I'm reliving my own first viewing and day's after! You're gonna love this place, Welcome! Don't expect the infection to end any time soon. It's been almost 3 years for me and I'm still very much IN LOVE with LTROI.

Welcome!
Old Braggs wrote: The irony for me is that the two children are like a mirror in which Eli find her humanity as Oskar slips into his personal darkness. I don't know if that makes sense, sometimes it is hard to put the feelings and emotions into words.
It makes perfect sense, and is similar to what the director himself says about the two characters in the UK DVD commentary.

Way to have an awesome Grandma!

As wonderful as this movie is, I always have a feeling of reservation when I recommend it to others. I work with too many dullards who are as afraid of subtitles as a vampire is of sunlight!!

Yeah, everyone already touched on the answer before, but just in case you didn't get the gist of it:

You need new friends.
Well, the way I imagine it, Eli and Oskar are happy forever being vampires, working seasonally at a blood-bank with poor book-keeping skills.
