Was it just because he wasn't home and she was worried about him? Maybe a bad day at work?
I get the feeling that she was more concerned about losing Oskar because that would leave her alone, rather than a real concern for his safety.

Oskar had been away from home for a full day, so no wonder she was worried.Ash wrote:Does anyone know why Oskar's mum went so ballistic when he came back from Eli's flat?
There was quite a discussion about the time line for this in another thread. I don't think we get much guidance on this from the film itself. Oskar has been out somewhere and is not at home in bed. Could be that this is morning and Oskar has been caught by his mother (who is in a bathrobe) coming in the front door. Where have you been? That sort of thing.Ash wrote:Does anyone know why Oskar's mum went so ballistic when he came back from Eli's flat?
But we do!? Oskar is sitting in the evening having dinner (black puddinggattoparde59 wrote:There was quite a discussion about the time line for this in another thread. I don't think we get much guidance on this from the film itself.
The clock in Mom's room is the only explicit reference to time. Now that I think about it, Mom is dressed for work with her infamous name badge. Did you just get home, or are you going to work Mom? At any rate it is clear that Oskar is not where he is supposed to be. Would Mom's reaction be the same if her son showed up at the front door in the PM as it would be at AM? The other reference to time is Oskar waking up in Eli's apartment, which for me places it in the AM. Other shots with Lacke show him in largely empty public areas which to me says early morning, perhaps early saturday morning.drakkar wrote:But we do!? Oskar is sitting in the evening having dinner (black pudding). Eli arrives, we have the bleeding scene an all that. Now Oskar's mum comes home from late work, and Eli has to flee from Oskars window. Later - 2:00 AM the film explicitly shows - Oskar is looking into his mom. Next we see of Oskar is he wakes up on the floor in Eli's living room, indicating Oskar left his mom about 2 o'clock in the night, going to Eli. Now Lacke enters and is killed while it is still daylight. Eli must leave, Oskar goes home. His mom is home from work when he arrives, so it probably is in the evening (could have been earlier if it was her day off).
Sure, it's just assumptions and deduction on my behalf.gattoparde59 wrote:The clock in Mom's room is the only explicit reference to time. Now that I think about it, Mom is dressed for work with her infamous name badge. Did you just get home, or are you going to work Mom?
Sunrise in Stockholm primo February is just before eight o'clock. Oskar wakes up after this, then Lacke arrives to get killed, and afterwards Oskar has to make a rather hasted goodbye with Eli just to catch his mum before she goes to work. I just don't find that very likely, nor do I find it likely that Lacke is an early riser.gattoparde59 wrote: Now that I think about it, Mom is dressed for work with her infamous name badge. I agree that Oskar probably wakes up AM, but still Lacke can arrive hours later. In fact the sunrise is eight o'clock, hence it is still quite dark when the public places starts to get crowded. I would rather place that during the relatively quiet period in the middle of the day.gattoparde59 wrote:The other reference to time is Oskar waking up in Eli's apartment, which for me places it in the AM.
