As they walk, Ingrid thinks – Oskar's hug was so gentle. Eli's lucky to have him.

Now, that's a real teaser. ;)

Ha ha!

Well, dear forum members, part 8 is being moderated. I'll post the link as soon as I get it.

Just so you know, part 9 is already in the works. Part 9 will bring us to the end of Book 2.

Woot Donald!. That's the way to go, but you forgot to say "...end of Book 2 and the beginning of the book 3", hahaha.

Thanks again for all you have done with your story.

Because  it's not. Part 9 (may I thrive) is the end of Book 2. Part 8 only got us to the surrounding hills looking down onto part 9.

Fortunately, big chunks of part 9 are already done. Inspector Morkus, the sojourn in Freetown, moving the hoard of silver to a foreign buyer.

Unfortunately, some really sticky parts are either in progress, such as hopefully expanding the little family from 4 to 5 and short sketches as they load up and leave Malmö.

Or they aren't started, such as Spanish language classes, Mr. Ávila flying down to set up the "Scando Portrait Studio" in Barcelona and to lay the groundwork for the kids to change their eating habits. Plus some affairs of the heart between two family members, and other plot issues, loose ends, and what-not.

I mean, it took 5 months to get part 8 posted. Send good thoughts my way so that part 9 can possibly go more quickly! :)

A few comments, as ususal...

Hygge, correct pronunciation:
--

The packaging of O&E's midnight snack most likely would not end up in Finland. Perhaps it would end up in Germany or Poland, though. Anyway, the current in Öresund mostly runs to the north, in which case Finland is quite unlikely. ;)

--

This phrase comes out to me as an Americanism: smoothly explaining to any nosy landowner or cruising constable.

Because of the Swedish allemansrätten, few landowners would ask for any explanations. Especially in winter, when nothing would be growing on many fields anyway, and no harm would be done walking across them. The same would be true of cruising constables, who by the way are very scarce in rural Sweden.

Besides, wouldn't carrying a telescope be rather counter-productive? It would be much less conspicuous to just silently and quickly go to get what they were after.

--

There's a Swedish Christmas tradition that you missed, or left out: Sticking rhymed verses onto the Christmas gifts, describing the contents in a roundabout way. Now, this isn't done in every family, but it is common enough that TV shows on the night of December 23 more often than not have a call-in service where people can ask for help creating nice verses:
The verses should be fixed onto the packages using red sealing wax:

In my family, someone dressed up as Santa picks the packages from under the Christmas tree and reads the verses out loud before handing over the gifts to the receivers. And no opening until are are handed out!

But from the beginning Eli was just Eli. Nothing. Anything. And he is still a mystery to me. John Ajvide Lindqvist
