Let the Right One In vs. Let Me In

I'll break open the story and tell you what is there. Then, like the others that have fallen out onto the sand, I will finish with it, and the wind will take it away.

Cool :)

It really highlights the differences in colour, can't say I'm a fan of LMI's redness though.

Also look how "the father" "falls" out of the window  .

I actually like two scenes from LMI, yeh. The first one is when Abby jumps from that three:

The angle was cool and it actually looked somewhat realistic, until the frame changes and we see Abby going rapis on vergnia.

And where verginia burns:

Mostly because I don't care about her at all and the scene looked gory and cool. When verginia in LTROI burst into flames I felt sorry for her. Say no more.
But LTROI wins by far.

I think these two comparisons best represent the differences between LTROI and LMI. One is quiet and subdued, the other is gory and in your face. One scene has the body being dragged away from the viewer with the head off in the background, the other has severed heads flying right into the camera.

I hate to belabor the point....
but LTROI is a movie and LMI is a flick.
LTROI is a delicate and problematic relationship study and LMI is a grisly excercise in excess.
LTROI will be remembered as an essential work of cinema and LMI will only be remembered as one of many rungs on Chloë Grace Moretz' ladder of success....

I think that is the problem. I like some scenes from Let Me In. Like the arcade scene, when Abby tells Owen she has read Romeo and Juliet, when Owen tells Abby how he wishes to leave Alamos one day, the car chase scene and that's it. And then the rest is just not enough for me to finish the movie. I just wasn't interested in Virginia, nor about the police officer, or about getting pounded in the head with Owen being the next Thomas.

My issue with LMI is that the story doesn't quite fit the horror visuals - not even after Reeves having tweaked the story. The score only reinforces my feeling the scene being glued onto the story insterad of being part of it.

Exactly. I think it will always live in the shadow of its successor and be viewed as "that remake of Let the Right One In", which is where it deserves to be.
