First time caller, long time listener...
First off, hello everyone.
im obviously late to the party.
i thank everyone for their heartfelt and thoughtful posts.
you made a great movie experience into a full blown obesession for me.
yes, i saw LMI first. then saw the Original, just started the book.
im very impressed with the thought put into each post and the logic and reasoning with each statement (laced with humor and sarcasm)
i randomly came across LMI and didnt even know anything about it, the novel or original. i went in fresh.
after the end credits appeared, i couldnt move. i had so many questions and needed to talk to someone. just to make sure i wasnt crazy.
then i found this board last friday. Ive read 95% on every post in this section of the site. i was blown away by posters interperetations of scenes, whether verbal or body language.
all of my questions were covered, and things i didnt even think about were touched. i hope everyone continues to post new topics or thoughts. and thank you Wolf for Letting Me in.
i was a reader, until i didnt see a post on a scene that i wanted to know everyone thoughts on...maybe i read into it too much, like some have on some tpoics, but thats what i like about everyone here...the passion. making that leap.
so i created an account to ask this (It may have been discussed before, so forgive me):
as LMI was ending, after the cop killing, Reeves pans thru the apratment complex and the scene moves to the secret basement...and we see cop all squished into the wall...
* does this scene confirm that Owen taken over for Thomas and hid the body to protect Abby? If so, no one saw a kid drag a grown man's bloody carcass downstairs? and no blood trail?
or Abby using her magical powers carried the cop there and tossed him up in the wall?
- would a sequel make things "worse"
i mean, im sure we would all love to see more...a continuation
but the open ending, i suppose its considered open, the best way to leave things?
sometimes we dont get what we want? but we get what we need?
i would love to hear your thoughts. some posters on here are well versed in the english language.
but from reading every post, it appears to me that most of the members are not american? i know right away when i see "colour" "cinema" "neighbour" stuff like that.
im 33, live in San Diego CA. was infected October 14th 2011
JAL touched my heart with his story.
thanks everyone.

Hello Spin.
I guess they were trying to explain where the body got to, and you were not convinced. I think this was a plot hole in the Swedish version as someone killed and there is no explanation as to the body in the bathroom. The right time of night and nobody will see the kids dragging a body around.

I'll break open the story and tell you what is there. Then, like the others that have fallen out onto the sand, I will finish with it, and the wind will take it away.

yo G59
thanks for the response. i figured as much.
kids didnt have much time to make that happen...you know...with the doorframe busted thru and blood EVERYWHERE, neighbors.
but thats the logical explaination. when i lived in philadelphia in complex like that, i would see shady stuff all the time, outside, in the lobby, in elevator, but wouldnt blink an eye, just walk straight to my apartment door. if i saw a trail of blood...i would assume someone already called it. thats how we are, i guess. well me. becoming an adult made me prioritize things.
i know if it were you or i, we'd be able to macgyver the corpse
i'd just drop acid all over him and call it a day.
do you think its kinda wierd that after they stashed the corpse, Owen goes to his aquarobics class?
i know im beating a dead horse, but im engrossed in this story. just catching up.
my bad to all if we've discussed this already. The time line post makes me wonder about this.
anyone post here anymore? i see alot of entries from 2010...i am late. damg.

Re: First time caller, long time listner...
I spend more time on this board than I do anything else, and I just joined about a week ago : )
I think the whole body stashed in the basement thing is just because no one really knows about "this part of the building," if I recall correctly -which points down to my thing about "not noticing." I can imagine that Abby may have hid the body after parting ways with Owen and him returning to his normal life -one of his last attempts in my opinion-, i.e. going to the pool. As JAL mentioned in a thread, that pool scene signals a rebirth from when he goes under, then comes up from the water. So I imagine that's the final nail in the coffin, and he's free to go "whole hog" after that -be with Abby.
That's how I would imagine it. But yeah, bodies gonna smell.
Another thing is the dialectic going on between noticing and not noticing. The adults go on about their business, and the kids go on about their business, and things get overlooked as a result -and that's where the problems arise. I'm guessing the body in the wall was one of the last looks at the obliviousness of the adults: the secret basement area - the adults don't know about. Then later Mr. Avila or whatever his name is in LMI (I get them all mixed up lol!) gets distracted by the fire outside and then BAM the big ending.
One thing I did notice is that it seems that when an "adult" crosses over into the realm of "children," i.e. the knife wielding older brother getting involved, the police officer who is the only one who "notices" Abby, complications arise, kind of like Huck Finn and leaving the Mississippi river in "Huck Finn." Seems when he tries to become civilized, it actually illustrates how crazy "civilized" really is, and things get better when he returns to the raft and Jim.

Well, the way I imagine it, Eli and Oskar are happy forever being vampires, working seasonally at a blood-bank with poor book-keeping skills.

Hi Leftwaffles,
thanks for responding. its kinda wierd. i just watched the movie like a week ago and got so into it, i read this entire webpage in a week...love all the nuances posters provide and its refreshing to see it from another set of eyes. plus im a novice to this story and everyone here lives and breathes it.
i just got my hands on the book, havent read more than 15 pages, but i like JAL's writing style so far...
also got the blu ray and will rewatch this weekend. got screwed tho, bestbuy sold me the regular blu ray with no comic or second disc. its the generic blu ray with no slip cover. will return to see if they can hook me up so i can see the comic. actually, i saw the comics online, but want the real thing.
ill be honest. i love the story...and think LMI is perfect. I enjoyed the original and think its the standard. i wont dispute that. it was a terrifc film and i hope i can infect my coworkers. got one lady really into. another lady trashed it.
where are you from L-Waffles?
what about LMI sticks out to you the most?
anything bother you or Reeves do his thing?
im worried that we may have gotten our lunchables mixed up
