Abstention

Post by a_contemplative_life » Tue Sep 14, 2010 11:50 pm

Ok folks, I hereby vow not to read any more reviews or watch any more clips before seeing LMI, lest I prejudice myself about this film before I even see it. Who's with me? Anyone?

After viewing one of the outtakes, I came to the very same conclusion. That's it for me until October 1st.

Totally.

Plus I'm not feeding the marketeers anymore.

They should all be made to watch Bill Hick's rant, the one that went,

"Anyone from Sales & Marketing in the audience...Yeah?...Kill yourselves."

Good idea. At this point other than seeing the movie itself i would rather listen to samples of the movie score.

I haven't even bothered too much with clips. One trailer, a few seconds of footage (enough to gain an impression of certain elements) and some reviews, that was all.

Yeah, I have sworn off the clips, or looking too closely at the trailers. Reviews I think are harmless.

The time to look at all that stuff is after you have seen the flic.

I'll break open the story and tell you what is there. Then, like the others that have fallen out onto the sand, I will finish with it, and the wind will take it away.

Well, I'm sort of with you. I still remember my first impression of LTROI when I first saw its trailer. I felt very much turned-off, and I toyed, for at least two weeks, on whether or not to see it. But my curiousity got the better of my first impressions and I went. Very much glad I did. I'll keep watching the tidbits that get thrown out, but I won't let them prejudice my opinion. All the stuff that's being thrown out is just designed to increase interest. Heck, I went to fandango.com earlier today (to see if there were any time and date listings; there weren't) and this movie already has over 600 comments; an awful lot of hoopla based on insufficient information. So I'll go see the movie and form my own opinion; just like everyone else.

Or will I????

I'll try. Well I have only seen the trailer online and the trailer that they passed on tv. The reviews that I have read are sort of similar. Some like the movie and others do not.

I'm done watching clips and behind the scenes. But I can't stop reading reviews. I'm gradually putting myself into a better mood regarding seeing LMI.

Personally I'm not too worried

I've seen the original and I've read the book countless times

I know this is a straight up remake with nothing majorly new to be included...so I personally don't really care about seeing clips anymore for it.

Although I will say they're really has been too much released clip wise I think.
