To me being turned means hes going to turn into a vampire and if thats the case then I dont understand what you wrote. Who says he is going to get turned? If you mean getting blood for Abbey then I say, I know, thats my point. He will be living his whole life against his will.Angelalex242 wrote:Is it really against his will? Abby's a big influencer, it's true, but there's only so long Owen can go with the woe is me thing once he's turned. He's gotta get over it, or he won't be able to be a fit mate for Abby in the first place.

Re: Owen the Strong One
He could walk away. That seems like an enormous emotional choice, but then so is killing people. Me, I left the movie theater not at all convinced he would kill anyone--which is not to say he doesn't bear responsibility because he's an accomplice. Then again, maybe eventually he will kill for Abby. Or she'll turn him so they can be together forever. I don't believe, though, that Abby needs help killing people. That was a facet of her relationship with Thomas. Owen is a twelve-year-old boy. I don't see anyone that age as a successful serial killer of adults.

Who says he's going to get turned?
'Let the Old Dreams Die', primarily. Granted, Let Me In has differences, but I don't believe Owen's turning is among them. Following Let the Old Dreams Die as a template, Owen will never see another sunrise after the pool incident.

He will see one - the morning after, on the train or before they takes it.Angelalex242 wrote: Following Let the Old Dreams Die as a template, Owen will never see another sunrise after the pool incident.

Re: Owen the Strong One

Is it possible that Owen's mask at the start of the movie was modeled after Richard Jenkins' face as a kind of foreshadowing of future events?

LTODD was published after both filsm were made. It's not canon for either one.Angelalex242 wrote: 'Let the Old Dreams Die', primarily. Bli mig lite.
Re: Owen the Strong One
I even think it is fair to say LTODD was a reaction to the films. It was JAL's way of letting us know his opinion of how LTROI should end.lombano wrote:LTODD was published after both filsm were made. Yes, it seems JAL got the idea for writing an epilogue after the first film was out.
Bli mig lite.
Re: Owen the Strong One
He did. In the foreword of LTODD, JAL says that the first time he watched the final cut of LTROI on a large screen (late autumn 2007?) it dawned upon him that the film could be interpreted as Oskar becomes Eli's new caretaker. At the wide release October 2008, TA said in an interview that JAL already had written a short epilogue to clarify the destiny of E&O.
The final (and extended) version was published shortly after LMI, and embedded in the story is the release times of LTROI and LMI.
Stefan & Karin leaved for Barcelona about the same time as LTROI (film) is released, presumably to search for Eli & Oskar. The narrator finishes his story two years later about the release time of LMI.
