Y'know, I really thought about adding her to my list, but I decided against it for two reasons
1. IMO, she's not "pretty" enough, whereas Eli's suppose to be a "beautiful" child.
2. I'd really, really like to see the part played by a boy. DSK has already pulled off an androgynous part before, when he played a kid with genetic mosaicism on House

Some tastefully done cgi can take care of that (worked in LTROI)

There's also this cinematic trick called a "close-up."

Mind you, methinks a little too much credit goes to the actresses playing Eli and Abby. Or--putting it a different way--not quite enough credit goes to the rest of the cast. One thing that really impressed me about the process of making LMI was that Owen was cast first, then they went in search of an Abby. Without genuinely excellent actors as Eli/Abby, Oscar/Owen and Hakkan/Thomas, the story just won't work. Fortunately, both films had splendid casts.

I'm a bit late on this one and I must say that it's interesting to see the choices that have been made so far :)

For Abby I would've liked to cast a young Kristen Stewart

or perhaps a young Jodie Foster

I also liked Ariel Winter out of the ones the were auditoned, but I think she's a bit too girly for Abby.

She's not as pretty as Lina, true...

In all honesty, I'd first thought he was a girl.

She looks androgynous in those pics, but I'd raise the same objection Bioroid raised to Fuhrman.

Yes, that would've been interesting.

Not necessarily a problem, she's no girlier than Lina, after all. I thought she overacted a little, but if toned down I think she could've been pretty good.
Bli mig lite.

Saoirse Ronan when she was younger would make a good Eli/Abby: Image

or a younger Isabelle Fuhrman:

or a younger Ivana Baquero:

Maybe Jeremy Irons or Daniel Day-Lewis for Hakan, but I think they're a little too good-looking to play a zombie pedophile.

An alternate Owen would be Lukas Haas.

Loved Ivana in Pan but I don't know if I could see her as Eli. Fuhrman (even though I have't seen Orphan), I could see as her, though.

She looks too weird in that pic. More like Elias from HTU.

Not so sure, I'd have to see her playing a much darker character than Ofelia to judge. And unless it was a Spanish remake or she's exceptionally good at hiding her accent, you'd probably have to dub her.

In "The New Daughter" (2009) she plays a darker role and speaks English. I don't think accent would be a problem.
Also interesting that she is continuing the mud theme. Image
