News from John
Re: News from John
More news. John posted a new article on his blog today, where he briefly comments the reviews on the novel in Swedish media. However, of more interest might be that there will be not one, but two novels following Himmelstrand, where obscurities and loose ends in the first novel will become explained! He also pointed to the fact (which I had overlooked) that Himmelstrand has a subtitle: Den första platsen (the first place). The next two novels will have the subtitles "the second place" and "the third place", respectively. Finally, he says that we'll have to wait a few years for the third novel, since he has "a few other things" he wants do write first.

Re: News from John
Thanks for the information. I am looking forward to reading JAL future novels. Just have to be patient for them to be translated.

Re: News from John
Apart from the news that nightrider revealed here, John has also written in his blog about the second volume of the trilogy started with Himmelstrand. The book is to be called Rörelsen (the Movement), which alludes to the Social Democratic party. The new book is a prequel to Himmelstrand, and involves the author himself, or a version of him, as he writes. It is set in the early 1980s, when JAL was young, practised magic in the streets, and lived in a house that is next to the Brunkeberg tunnel. This is a pedestrian tunnel in Stockholm, and plays a significant role in Himmelstrand. Furthermore it is near the place where Olof Palme, the leader of the Social Democratic party and the Swedish prime minister, was shot down.
The book is, John writes, like virtually all his works about "our relation to the other". "How far we are willing to go to break loose from our Earth bound conditions to get in contact with something that allows us to transcend."
It will be in the book stores in fall, if everything goes as planned.

Re: News from John
John has posted on his blog again. This time he says that the new novel is complete, and will be sent to the publisher on Monday. He also reveals that he is very satisfied with it: Och den är bra, riktigt bra! (And it's good, really good!) This sounds very promising, I think.
The book will be released in September (in Sweden, of course).

Re: News from John
I just watched an interview with John made during the Sigtuna festival of literature last August.
The interview is in Swedish, quite long (46 minutes), and thus too long for me to translate or even reference.
However, John discloses what the third volume of his current trilogy will be called: "X - den tredje platsen" (X - the third place). He expect if to be published next autumn (i.e. in 2017). He has already written about half of it, but now has some other tasks to take care of before completing it.
Finally John said, waving his finger, "After that, I will write a book called "Vänligheten" (the kindness), that will deal with just that."
OK. So now we know what to expect and wait for!
