She is very...slapstick, Charlie Chaplin but stranger.
Comedy from other cultures always seems strange to me at first, but I can usually warm up to it.

Ika did a fantastic job on Virginia. She is such a vivid woman with strong presence; when she manages to look so bleak and drained as Virginia, I take deep bow.

When ever I see a picture of Ika, she has such a warm smile. In fact she seems to just radiate warmth. On screen as Virginia, she was able to turn all of that off. You just see a flash of it when Virginia urges Lacke to invite Håkan to join them. Otherwise she does such a good job as Virginia that you don't notice it. That is, her Virginia merges seamlessly into the story. When you watch her, you just see Virginia and never once think that really you are watching an actress portraying her.
I really wish John and Tomas had given more time to Virginia in the hospital (more like what was in the novel). Ika could have rocked that.
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.
