Aftertaste
Aftertaste
Hey did anyone get that weird aftertaste when you finished reading the book?
Re: Aftertaste
Oh yes, after the first time I was really creeped out. But I also liked it alot and understood Oskar and Eli more, so.. What gives

Re: Aftertaste
I'd describe it more as a hunger.
"She can fly, she has amazing and horrifying powers, she isn’t exactly a boy or a girl, she can’t come inside unless she’s invited ... and she loves him. That’s enough."

Re: Aftertaste
How do you mean? The ending of the book is actually heartwarming. If there was any weird aftertaste it would be towards the beginning and the middle.
"When is a monster not a monster? Oh, when you love it."

Absolutely, the hunger for a further 900 pages of story.seigezunt wrote:I'd describe it more as a hunger.
.
"For a few seconds Oskar saw through Eli’s eyes. And what he saw was … himself. Only much better, more handsome, stronger than what he thought of himself. Seen with love."
Re: Aftertaste
I didn't taste anything, however I got kicked in my stomach.

Re: Aftertaste
After the pool scene a lesser author might have dropped the ball and descended into sentimentality or, heaven forbid, had Oskar go back home.
My aftertaste, if that's what you can call it, came from the perfect ending scene. So simple and right and natural that it was IMO the piece de resistance of the film.
After all the horribleness, they remain uncorrupted by events, just two happy kids on a train.
