Regarding the book, as outlined I can understand where dongregg is coming from. Both book and film may have their origins in the same core story, but from stalking these forums for the last couple o' days I gathered as much that there are some major areas in which they both differ -- and this isn't necessarily limited to the inherent traits of the medium they both utilize. Let The Right One In is such a haunting movie, completely as it is, that one might not want that original experience to be tarnished. As much of the more delicate parts where either left out of the film or deliberately made more ambiguous , your experience may change after reading the book one way or another. Strangely I hadn't seen the movie until last year, when it aired on TV (dubbed). When I had the movie home on DVD and watched it in its original language, with Eli being dubbed anyways, that was already a different experience. For the German dubbing, they took a young girl to dub Eli. Obviously the much deeper voice of the original made for quite a change in character already. And as movies go, the film hugely benefits of Johan Söderqvist's score.

Still, the book's on its way to my home and I will let it in. Looking at places to stay in/near Blackeberg, it seems Blackeberg itself doesn't have any hostels or motels of any kind. I was secretly hoping to find something near the station, but that seems illogical as it's mainly a residential area with like 8,000 inhabitants and not much business (candy shops aside, maybe ;) ). It's only Bromma, the Stockholm borough it belongs to, that has: http://www.booking.com/searchresults.de ... abbf0b0cd8 8,000 actually seems quite a lot of people for so little space, that is double the inhabitants of my home town. Let's see whether I'm going ahead and try this. Might make for an interesting experience.

hey pretty stranger
i think you look cute
can i get your number
i wanna know you

tell me your secrets
tell me your fears
nobody will notice
lets get outta here

hey girl don’t catch me looking
oh boy i caught you staring
what do you think of me
do you think of me

you got that new style
you wear that perfect smile
i’ll take you on a date
are you free saturday

and i-i-i think i like you
(i like you, i like you)
and i-i-i hope you do too
(you do too, i like you)

hey pretty stranger
i think you look cute
i don’t think i’ve ever
met someone like you

people come and go
but i’m here to stay
just call my name
we’ll be okay

hey girl don’t catch me looking
oh boy i caught you staring
what do you think of me
do you think of me

you got that new style
you wear that perfect smile
i’ll take you on a date
are you free saturday

and i-i-i think i like you
(i like you, i like you)
and i-i-i hope you do too
(you do too, i like you)

I'm sure everybody has his own personal list.

This is a song included in the OST of the anime 'Noir'.
It's called 'Secret Game' and I think both the lyrics and the melody fits O&E love story almost perfectly.

Lyrics :

come to me
we never be apart
the sun you see is me

no more pain
no memories remain
now you can play with me

so love me now you are the one
I give you all the stars I see
the rain is gone no pain is here
my heart I beg you all your love

come to me
we never be apart
the sun you see is me

no more pain
no memories remain
now you can play
all the games with me
The song that always makes me think of Oskar and Eli is “Let The Right One Slip In” for obvious reasons.

“Let the right one in
Let the old dreams die
Let the wrong ones go
They cannot do
What you want them to do”
"the quieter you become, the more you are able to hear"

"Face to Face" as well as "Love Crime" by Siouxsie are two of my favorite pieces of music of all-time. Coincidentally, they both work exceptionally well with the story of Oskar and Eli. I often use them during writing sessions to get me in the proper mood.

Face to Face is about feeling a deep sense of connection, yet also feeling that both parties are wearing masks and something dangerous lurks behind the temptation of unity. Love Crime, meanwhile, is a soaring melody and commemoration of love as well as the determination to survive and thrive at all costs.

Together, they make a good two-part summary of Oskar's developing relationship with Eli, the ups and downs, and the blood red light he finds at the end of the tunnel.
"The dark is patient, and it always wins. But its weakness lies in its strength: a single candle is enough to hold it at bay. Love is more than a candle. Love can ignite the stars." - Matthew Stover

Hi world, this is my first post here, as a became aware of LTROI a few days ago.
Mine ist Interpol - the undoing
In my eyes it´s about sadness, grief, love and nostalgia

[Verse 1]
I was on my way
I was on my way to tell you it's no good
I was on my way
Chasing my damage

[Pre-Chorus]
I was chased, thrilled and altered
Chasing my damage
Because I was chased, thrilled and altered
And it raised me

[Chorus]
Suele tener
Me suelto
Me suelto en el deshacer (please)
Al puro perder el ganar no compara
Me suelto en el deshacer

[Verse 2]
I always thought you had great style, great style
And style was worthwhile
Because I was
I was on my way
Sobreviviré

[Pre-Chorus]
Chasing my damage (chasing)
I was chased, thrilled and altered
And it raised me
Chasing my damage
Because I was chased, thrilled and altered
And it raised me

[Chorus]
Suele tener (please)
Me suelto (please)
Me suelto en el deshacer (please, please the place we're in
Al puro perder el ganar no compara (please, please)
Al puro perder el ganar no compara (please)

[Outro]
Please, please the place we're in now (all night long)
Please
Please, please the place we're in now (please)
Please (all night long)
Please, please the place we're in now (all night long)
Please
Please, please the place we're in now
Please (all night long)
Please, please the place we're in now (all night long)
Please
Please, please the place we're in now (please)
Please (all night long)
Please, please the place we're in now (all night long)
Please
Please, please the place we're in now (all night long)
Please (please)
Please, please the place we're in now (please)
Please (all night long)
I would wait (please)
I would wait
Please, please the place we're in now (all night long)
I would wait (please)
I would wait
I would wait (all night long)
I would wait

Radiohead - Glass eyes

I love Radiohead, and now that it I recently have watched and read LTROI this really reminds me of the bittersweet scene on the train.

Lyrics:
Hey it's me
I just got off the train
A frightening place
The faces are concrete grey
And I'm wondering, should I turn around?
Buy another ticket
Panic is coming on strong
So cold, from the inside out
No great drama, message coming in
In the oh-so-smug
Glassy eyed light of day
Glassy eyed light of day

Where the path trails off
And heads down the mountain
Through the dry bush, I don't know where it leads
I don't really care
And the path trails off
And heads down a mountain
Through the dry bush, I don't know where it leads
I don't really care

I feel this love to the core
I feel this love to the core

Wild Nothing - Chinatown

The lyrics remind me of the movie, not to mention they have a song called Take Me In that relates to the movie really well and seems like its has an 80s style.

Lyrics:
Innocent love,
I need someone somewhere
I need some way to come down
I need some way to make things right

Innocent love,
I need someone somewhere
I need some way to come down
I need some way to make things right

We're not happy 'til we're running away
Clouds in your eyes

With nothing but the foggiest day

One of a kind
I need to keep you here
I need to picture you still
I need to clear the fog

One of a kind
I need to keep you here
I need to picture you still
I need to clear the fog

Alt-J - Dancing in the Moonlight cover (originally by Thin Lizzy)

Really good song by a really good band. fits in well with Let The Right One In also in my opinion. :D

Lyrics:
Well I passed you in the doorway
And you took me with a glance
Should have been on that last bus home
But I asked you for a dance

Now we go steady to the pictures
I always get chocolate stains on my pants
And my father's going crazy
Say's I'm living in a trance

But I'm dancing in the moonlight
It's caught me in the spotlight
It's alright
Dancing in the moonlight
On this long hot summer night

Well it's three o'clock in the morning
And I'm on the streets again
Disobeyed another warning
I should have been home by ten

I won't get out until Sunday
I'll have to say I stayed with friends
But it's a habit worth forming
If the means justify the ends

I'm dancing in the moonlight
It's caught me in the spotlight
It's alright
Dancing in the moonlight
On this long hot summer night

Dancing in the moonlight
It's caught me in the spotlight
It's alright
Dancing in the moonlight
On this long hot summer night
