Blackeberg pictures in context

Post by drakkar » Sat Jul 17, 2010 3:39 pm

During the Blackeberg tour in June, I was taking some location pictures.
In this thread, I plan to post them in context with the novel, using quotes from it as a link to the photos.

First things first: The Traneberg Bridge.
And there they come! Marching over the Traneberg Bridge with sunshine and the future in their eyes.

But that wasn’t the way it was. They came on the subway.

Thanks. And I promised. I just had to get back home from a rather long trip so I could start posting them.

Continuing with Oskar stealing candy:
Oskar was on his way home from school, his head heavy.

Despite the risk of running into Jonny and Micke he walked towards downtown Blackeberg, to the Sabis grocery store. He shuffled up along the zigzag ramp instead of taking the stairs, using the time to gather himself.

Once he walked through the front gate to the courtyard of his apartment complex he was safe.

This is great. I love the way you are linking the narrative to the photographs! :)

After he's finished eating the candy he stole, Oskar walk into the forest to stab trees.
The entrance he had used on his way in lay at the right end of his building, but he walked to the left past two other buildings, and out through the entrance where the cars could enter. ...

... Left the inner fortification. Crossed Ibsengatan and continued down the hill. Left the outer fortification. Continued on towards the forest.

Oskar walked down the hill past the printing company, then turned onto the path into the forest.
The earth shall drink his blood.
For the second time this day Oskar felt almost happy.

If they were ever to release an illustrated version of LDRKI, this thread would be the place to begin. :)

Some of the photos aren't currently available.

Hope it's OK now. I was "tidying up" my Flickr photo sets, and had to (?) relink them. Sometimes Mac still is a mystery to me.

Yes, I'm aware of this video, it has been referred to earlier on the board, together with lots of other location pictures in various threads.
Initially I planned to post only the locations not covered earlier (like Oskar in the forest), but I decided I might as well post the whole lot chronologically, in English.
