One of the more poignant moments (for me) is when Oskar shouts after Eli if they can meet agan, and Eli answers "yes" just as he is about to turn left, going to kill Jocke instead of walking back home. It shows how hard Eli is hit also, it's not just Oskar.

Hmm.. Basically I planned to end this scene with the moment when Oskar offers the Cube which would have fitted in two pages. But I think I want to extend it to four pages which I can finish with a larger picture of the playground then.
If you need any more of the book for this just ask. I'm sure Drakkar would be happy provide any better tanslations that may be required too. :?:
It looks great so far by the way. :)

About the jungle gym: I think the one that drakkar has photographed isn't the one that was there in 1981. This one looks too modern.

Playground design and jungle gyms have shifted during the ages. The houses were built in the mid 1950s, when jungle gyms would be made of steel. In the seventies, fashion (and safety concerns) had shifted towards wood, so in many places the old steel jungle gyms and swings were exchanged with new, wooden ones. If this was done at this playground, I don't know. But times passes, and the seventies style has passed, too. Today, playgrounds are equipped with stuff like the one that is in the courtyard today.

Thus, if you want your pictures to look authentic, you should try to find pictures of jungle gyms available in the eighties for reference.
But from the beginning Eli was just Eli. Nothing. Anything. And he is still a mystery to me. John Ajvide Lindqvist

When Oskar moves his hand away from Eli's cheek it looks weird because his thunb and part of the palm underneath his thumb is still the only part shown. You should have more fingers there, it just looks weird. When it is on Eli's cheek it makes sense, the other fingers are on his chich on the other side. But when his hand is removed, the fingers should show, I think :D

Other than that I just loooove love this, Eli's eyes shifitng back, the text and dialouge, perfection indeed!! I am so glad you joined the forum omg. :D :D

Agreed about the jungle gym, however it probably was there when John wrote the book, it fits well into the description. This is also the dilemma with the desolated (?) house at the bottom of ghost hill, it also might have looked different and more lively back then.

@ intrige

Depends on the angle of the hand when you look at it. But of course I have no problems to add the other fingers ;D

dongregg wrote:Lina and Kåre have portrayed these characters so successfully that, IMO, few of us would object if you just stick with the film version of LTROI. Some fan art uses the book descriptions as a guide, such as the charming depictions by ofelia; but her chubby Oskar and merely beautiful Eli do not resonate as much with me. Think of Oskar's slender, androgynous beauty and Eli's deep, compelling eyes.
My bad! I totally missed what Dominic was trying to accomplish!
