Yes, Eli left some very poignant notes for Oskar. You get the impression that she is right on the verge of using the "L" word, but is afraid to; perhaps she feared it would scare Oskar off?DarkGuyver wrote:I would have to say page 349 to 350, the note Eli left for Oskar revealed how empty Eli's existance had been before s/he met Oskar.

"For a few seconds Oskar saw through Eli’s eyes. And what he saw was … himself. Only much better, more handsome, stronger than what he thought of himself. Seen with love."

I'm with varamiglite and ACL; the bedroom scene in it's entirety, from Eli snuggling up behind Oskar when his mom came in, to his bed floating away as he fell asleep.
(And of course, the L reference is 'LOVE')

Re: quick question
I also think JAL wanted to write a love story without ever including that word (at least not between Eli and Oskar, I think Lacke and Virginia say it at some point). Which is pretty rare.a_contemplative_life wrote:Yes, Eli left some very poignant notes for Oskar. I think my favorite part might be the few pages after Håkan and Lacke are dead, the police are coming and Eli says goodbye.

Re: quick question
It's a lesbinan TV series, yes.

Funny how JAL didn't even mean to write a love story from the beginning of the writing process, they just fell in love
He wrote it here on the forum somehwhere. So cute.
I think the reason why they don't say I love you to each other (O&E) is because,, would you have said that as a kid? Also, they were rogether for two weeks before they ran away together, their relationships was pretty fresh and they were probably still shy about some things. Love is a strong word and both of them obiosly understood that.
I also get the feeling that Eli really wants to say it a few times mut is scared it would scare Oskar away, being too intense? I would get kind of.. Ehh what?? If somebody I had been with for two weeks said: I love you. I would't even belive it. I hope I answered anything
A gay girl came to our class once and talked about this, I got to speak with her afterwards and she adviced me to watch the L word.
