Re: New short story from JAL
This was the perfect example how starved I was for new JAL material. I must have devoured the story in 20-25 minutes.
I'm glad to see Marlaine Delargy is back on board in her translating duties. Language flows very smoothly and is a very accessible read.
And speaking of accessible, this plot is so universal that it could have taken place anywhere in the world. And that is the secret of good writing
Also, the story is laid out in a very cinematic manner. So well in fact that I was ready to pick up the camera and start filming.
As usual, JAL's details of technical descriptions are meticulously researched which infuses fantastic aspects of the story with realism.
Good stuff.

Someone spoil me about what happens with Oskar and Eli in this one please?
"When is a monster not a monster? Oh, when you love it."

Nothing. One of the characters is probably a descendant.cmfireflies wrote:Someone spoil me about what happens with Oskar and Eli in this one please?
We never stop reading, although every book comes to an end, just as we never stop living, although death is certain. (Roberto Bolaño)

I prefer LTODD too. I did enjoy this new story, mostly to learn what is liked for a person that becomes infected. Pretty good details there.

OWAH OWAH. Decedet as in Osnkar and Eli sired another vampire?!

It's implied. And since it's JAL, that means it's true. That could be yet another story.cmfireflies wrote:PeteMork wrote:Nothing. One of the characters is probably a descendant.cmfireflies wrote:Someone spoil me about what happens with Oskar and Eli in this one please?

I am going to try and read the story later again, since I was confused in that part as to who it was.PeteMork wrote:Nothing. One of the characters is probably a descendant.
Re: New short story from JAL
I wish they would just make a short with Oskar and Eli and stop acting like it may be one. The vampire idea is fun with them, but it's being milked now.

I was going to grab the e-book, but, oddly, the paperback is currently cheaper than the Kindle version on Amazon.

I liked this short story since JAL expands more about the infection. Other than that I prefer LTODD, is more precise and gives me an idea of what became of Oskar and Eli.
