TV News: TNT Pulls The Plug On Let The Right One In Series, April 14, 2017

(I think these articles are all pulling all they know from the same article Hassildor referenced.)

I think the article from Deadline is inaccurate, because the pilot has already been made, it's the series that's not going forward at TNT.

Just because the pilot has been made, it doesn't mean
that the show will be picked up. I just know that
It's going to be an unmitigated disaster.
I do so hope that this clearly superfluous project will not
become a reality and won't ever get off the ground.

Yerp. The Pilot can be seen as more of an attempt to sell the product to the network (TNT, A&E, BBC, Netflix or whomever) than to the audience. Better yet, view the Pilot 's audience as the the network and not us out here in consumer-land.

Maybe we'll catch clues over time as to what didn't work. Was it the Pilot itself? Was this just not the right time , as judged by TNT , to not be the right time for this kind of show? For example, it might be a terrific Pilot but TNT doesn't see a market for it in terms of how where they think this summer's audience will be. Or maybe it was a Pilot that didn't do that well coming though the post-filming phases and didn't carve out a vibe that TNT was looking for. Or maybe it was with even earlier elements of the process. Dunno, but am curious to find out.

Too bad they couldn't run it past us. We'd let them know for a fact if it would fly or not. Though I doubt it would...

Oh well, maybe it's for the best.

The biggest stumbling block for me was ageing up the protagonists to (possibly) attract the MTV and Tumblr crowd with hormone related plot points.

I propose in the place of this a Swedish production wherein various authors for the country bring to TV production their works. The works do not need to be contiguous. For example John Lindqvist could be one of the included authors but his entries for, say, LTROI or Harbour do not need to be contiguous across the calendar. Rather, let each author's works shine on their own and be intermixed week-to-week as their separate production's allow. Let's say it takes 12 episodes to appropriately reduce the LTROI plot to a TV series. And then another 10 episoides to do the same for Harbor or, say, Little Star. Let these play out thru the season intermixed with the similar episodes from other Swedish authors' contributions. Thus there is a continuing exposition of Swedish talent and stories.

This is a win-win for multiple authors and for the Swedish TV system. The stories John has produced are but a sliver of what is been created in Sweden over the recent decade plus. Each author remains in control of otheir creations and fans get to see their stories brought "to life".

Scott Wampler, 17-April-2017
TNT Shuts Down Their LET THE RIGHT ONE IN Adaptation
"Let's be honest: this is probably for the better."
For the record, this iteration of Let The Right One In would've been less a remake and more of a reimagining, with the location changed to Vermont and both of its lead characters being much older (how much older is unknown, but we're guessing the two kids would've been brought up to, say, Twilight age levels). You may or may not be into those changes, but for now that's really neither here nor there.
This had been preceeded last August with this from Scott:

They’re Turning LET THE RIGHT ONE IN Into A TV Show And There’s Nothing You Can Do About It
"Just let it happen."
This is a good level-headed opinion piece.
