To be honest, I thought it's chance of being good was slim to none. But being darker than a pedophile killing kids to feed his beloved, castrated, vampire idol. Yeah. Good luck with that...

I'm still cautiously optimistic.

The Swedish film was pretty different from the original novel too. I WANT this to be different -- the worst thing they could do is just copy the Swedish film again. Look at Hannibal -- they've made a number of drastic differences to canon but it's still one of the best shows on now.

It's not that it was so different, it was just less. One of the reasons I like the movie so much is how close it is to the book. But, from what I gather, they want to take the concept but change the story. If they want to add to the story, that's one thing, but to change it is another.
