Hey, I never give up. In spite of my lack of success, I'm going to keep rooting for more people to see our film. And then see what happens (if anything).
Of course, an A&E series could also be the complete debacle that some people think LMI is. Sigh. Promoting LTROI is a lonely and thankless task.
A&E Remaking 'Let the Right One In'

Aww, thanks.

I am up for the idea. I don't like HBO. I would have prefer Globo. They are great at making mini series.
Re: A&E Remaking 'Let the Right One In'
Well, now you've jinxed even entirely unrelated stuff everywhere. You can't just line this crap back up in the correct order in an afternoon you know. Sigh. I'll get my tack hammer...gkmoberg1 wrote:

I'll tell you what: Since A&E probably has one of those bunker busting budgets, I'll be willing to get aboard the glee train if they'll do it in a present-past thing. Maybe make a really, really convincing go at bringing, say, Lina & Kare aboard, at least, and maybe assigning script supervision and maybe even the initial scripts to some writer who might be fairly familiar with the material, some Swede or something, with a pilot directed by someone also familiar with the material. Sort of Eli & Oscar now, Eli & Oscar then. Otherwise, I'll go with the surely swelling consensus: Burn it. Burn it now.
Why not try to do it RIGHT, if you're gonna do it? It can't be that alien a concept in American television, can it? I bet it's been done before. Also I vote that Prof. Don continue to promote the interests of LTROI & my fledgling universal realigning tack hammer business, in any way he sees fit, everywhere. Also, I thought there was going to be Kool-Aid.

I agree, the force isn't strong with A&E.
Like so many other here, I'm not confidant on this, there is always a sliver of hope. I'm afraid it will turn out to be a paranormal drama dealing with Oskar and Eli dealing with every nocturnal critter under the moon, devoid of any individual character or relationship development in the "Supernatural vein" or cheesy "Scooby Doo Gang" show like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
Either way, I have a bad feeling about this.

This is interesting, I'm sure the idea of adapting the novel to TV had been around for years, but now it's really happening!
I'm curious to see where the story will take place this time, in America or Sweden? Also, who will play Oskar and Eli ? I hope they will cast actors in the same age as in the novel.
Re: A&E Remaking 'Let the Right One In'
I think there are a few of us who are more than qualified for that job. Maybe not me, but I can give them a couple of dozen names from this forum.StrayAway wrote:

Re: A&E Remaking 'Let the Right One In'
Well, they can't hurt The Film. The Film Is. They can (and some say they have already) screwed up a remake. I suppose they could damage the reputation of the book, but that's going to be mostly perception -- the disinterested personal opinion of people who haven't read the book & never intended to. The Film is in bible; it's set. The problem with television, anywhere, is twofold: They don't know when to let well enough alone, and, therefore going ahead anyway, they then don't know when to quit. This is a viewer driven phenomenon (market/money). If they go ahead with the show, you might very well get a good pilot, followed by five or six decent episodes, after which quality will tank. But the audience will continue to watch, probably, for three seasons, when the project should have been allowed to die after one season. The audience will watch as much crap as they're given; so you give them as much crap as they'll watch. For me, I want to give Lina & Kare the work, the exposure to an American audience -- both of which deserve one another, I think. I want to expose that whole beautiful, sublime way of thinking about presentation & execution & cinematography to an American audience & to the American industry itself. There might be some creative good to come from it. And they can't hurt my timeless, loving film.
