For those who have arrived at the story Anything to Me is Sweeter, Than to Cross Shock-Headed Peter by Brian Hodge, may be interested to know that it is based on the book Struwwelpeter, which was published the first time in 1845.

As it happens I have a copy of that book, a recent re-print from 1943, but still.

Talking about old books, I still have my copy of Grimms' Fairy Tales, which my grand father gave me for Christmas in 1963, when I was four. It is very well read.

What lovely stories, then again, children's stories from that time period seem to be very dark and morbid. :o
