Just finished Lindquist's story. Very good. Scary, creepy and disturbingly violent. Beautiful descriptions of loss and despair. Reads like the script for EC Vault of Horror Comics mixed with old Amicus Productions films....
Just hope the rest of the book can live up to the quality that I'll expect after reading THE MUSIC OF BENGT KARLSSON, MURDERER.

I am thinking of buying the book. Are the other stories in the book good.

The Coffin-Maker's Daughter by Angela Slatter and Sad, Dark Thing by Michael Smith are pretty good. Obviously JAL's story is the reason I got the book and his contribution is truly a great piece of writing. Very spooky and macabre. The book is a mixed bag...there's a story for every taste.

Outside of JAL's story, which is extremely creepy, there are a couple of stories that I found noteworthy in addition to the ones that Nightrider mentioned above . Ghosts With Teeth is horror like you really don't see much of - at least not done so well. There can be no word other than "horror" to describe that story.

Another story that has stayed on my mind for months is The Man In The Ditch. Every time I think of that story, I have the feeling that I missed something. There was some subtext there that eluded me or some connection that I failed to make. Although I may be easily confused, I still have to say that a good story is one that can leave me puzzled months afterward.

Found it sitting on the shelf at a used book store. In excellent condition and for only $8.00. I would have snapped it up if I did not already owned a copy.

Late to the party but I'd say that Lindqvist's story was one of the few that I liked in this collection.
