Alberto Iglesias is currently recording his score for the Cold War thriller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. The movie starring Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Stephen Graham and Benedict Cumberbatch is directed by Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In). The film based on the novel by John Le Carre centers on a veteran British spy who is rehired in secret by his government, which fears that the British Secret Intelligence Service, a.k.a. MI-6, has been compromised by a double agent working for the Soviet. Bridet O’Connor and Peter Straughan (The Men Who Stare at Goats, The Debt) adapted the novel for the big screen. Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner (Atonement, Frost/Nixon) and Robyn Slovo (Catch a Fire) are producing. Iglesias previously scored another Le Carre adaptation in 2005 with The Constant Gardener starring Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz. Focus Features will be releasing Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy stateside on November 18, 2011.

As reported earlier this year, Iglesias has two other award hopefuls coming out this year. Roman Polanski’s drama Carnage starring Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly is set to be released on the same day as Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy on November 18 by Sony Pictures Classics. Also being released by the indie studio is Pedro Almadovar’s The Skin I Live In starring Antonio Banderas, set for a release on October 14.

I like his score for "The Kite Runner". :)

I see that he's also scored "The Dancer Upstairs" which was an interesting movie, but I can't recall any specific themes from that soundtrack...Either way "TInker, Tailor..." is on my to do list...Polanski's "Carnage" shouldn't be much of a competition fot TA's film. Polanski is a good director, but most of his recent works opened with a very low profile...Except maybe for a "The Ghost Writer" which made some money in the end, but did not set the world on fire.

PS: Plus, "Carnage" has John C. Reilly in it and this man is like a dark cloud...
