"Majken" is a voluminous story that revisits JAL's familiar territory of family life as a trap.
The narrator is the main character and for a while there's a certain pleasure from the linear flow of the tale. Soon however other players
are introduced, but in the style that suggests foreshadowing of grim things to come. Once again less is more should have been a good idea
since there's lots of walkabout exposition that might have been edited to a better effect. Copius amounts of information
still leave the readers in the dark as all the protagonists continue on as ciphers with only a hint of clarification
of their moves. Punctuated by sparse splashes of action (one of which is straight out of "Jackie Brown") "Majken"
trying hard to say something profound, but in the end comes of as
a sort of vague geriatric variation of "LIttle Star"....or a practice reel for that novel.
One thing that's been bugging me for a few year is that it's actually been filmed! But for the world I haven't been able to figure out how to be able to see it...
Anyway it has an IMDB entry at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1174700/

There seems to be a lot of info on this short film since it was made in 2008.

Yes, some googling told me that it was televised on SvT (Swedish national TV) in 2008 but that was before I got hooked on JAL's books. No idea to get hold of it now...

I thought(mistakenly) that this short wouldn't be that hard to find on the net since it's fairly old. Apparently the film made quite a few rounds on Film Festival circuit and received certain amount of acclaim. I found it referenced on Asian, Russian and German websites....but no actual video seems to be available.
This is a link to an article in Swedish Film Institute webzine from a distant year of 2009!!!! It also included a one lonely still which by the way looks just like I imagined as I was reading the short story. 8-)

It seems the movie is available from SVT - it's listed here:
http://www.svt.se/omsvt/kontakt-och-hja ... ra-foretag

"Published SVT programs and products.
SVT publishes programs on dvd and products that are available on the market. These usually can be purchased in e.g. web shops, department stores, supermarkets, toy stores, book shops, video shops, and so forth."

I'm not so sure even that it's available on sale, since the film in the list is said to have been published in 2011, and there's another film with the same title, as can be seen here at Swedish online store Discchop: http://www.discshop.se/filmer/dvd/majken/P98280
This is clearly another film, and note that publisher Scanbox Vision as per 2012 is called Pan Vision, i.e. I think the list linked by metoo refers to this film.

This might be so. The list only contains names of stuff, no other info.

Eternal/Love
A tough story.  It reminded me of Let The Right One In.  What two people do to keep their love to last forever.
Let the old dreams die
My favorite story from the book.  Is sort of like a goodbye to my two favorite characters.
To hold you while the music plays
Did not understand what it was about.  A strange story.
Majken
This story had me guessing all the way to the end.
Paper walls
A simple story about childhood.
The final processing
I like the resolution. I like the humor too.  Even though the situation was tense.  My favorite characters were Hagar and Roland.

So far I've found the time to read:

Border

I found this to be a very captivating tale that led unexpectantly into a mythology I'm not very familiar with but found very intriguing. A fine example of terrific storytelling too. I was very much "into" the characters as I turned the pages, eager to see where the story was leading.

Village on the Hill

This was a fun little monster romp that kept me guessing right up til the end. It reminded me of something I might have seen on an old TV show I watched growing up called Tales from the Dark Side. Good fun, this one.

Equinox

Now this one was down right creepy and disturbing, and I mean that as compliments. A fantastic horror tale that really drew me in and had me questioning what was unfolding right up til the somewhat abrupt, but satisfying end.

That's all so far but those three have me really amped up for the rest.
