About Let the old dreams die in english

Post by johnajvide » Mon Apr 09, 2012 1:40 pm

Just to clarify a few things in regards to the collection "Let the old dreams die" to be published by Quercus. This is not the same collection that was published in Sweden under that name about a year ago.
It is the collection "Paper walls" under a different name, and with the title story added. I guess you can see why the publishers thought this was a good idea.
But fear not. The swedish collection "Låt de gamla drömmarna dö" was a hodge-podge of stories, articles, things written for television, reviews etc. Mostly things that had been published elsewhere before.
Nothing wrong about that, many good things to be found there. But "Paper Walls" is a straightforward short story collection, not written for any specific purpose other that to tell the stories. It is, to put it frankly, a much better book.
And it contains what I still feel is the best thing I´ve written so far, the story "Gräns" ("Border").
As for me, I´m still working on "X". It´s amazing how complicated this book has become. I still haven´t written much on the story, but I have something like 200 pages of notes, monologues, scenes, character descriptions and so on. And I still don´t know if it´s going to be a murder mammooth 1000-pager or a slim thing.

So what is paper walls going to be called? Also, you're saying that the short story: Let the old dreams die will be in the "new" paper walls? :P
I loved Grans, and so did Drakkar 8-) Is X going to have a name in the end, or is it just going to be called X, cause that would actually be kind of cool :D

Thank you for clarification Mr.Lindquist.
However i'm still confused on the issue of "Paper Walls" being published by Text in October. Their people claim that this book will also include Let The Old Dreams Die. Is there some kind of discrepancy with the titles or there's a possibility that both "PW" and "LTODD" will include LTODD short story? Unless the Quercus and Text releasing the same book under different titles....

Could very well be the case. I doubt it is two different books.
