The soundtrack melts my heart

Post by Elitheeternal » Tue Nov 13, 2018 5:26 am

I actually listened to the soundtrack first before watching the film. This particular one https://youtu.be/A2APXqzX2Bk which is the main theme, is so beautiful and yet painful at the same time that made me wanna watch the film. The music is just perfect for the film and matches with the mood of the movie perfectly. There are simply no human words I could use to describe how I feel when I listen to it. In fact, Im listening to it as Im writing this. The composer of this masterpiece deserves one big reward.

When Johan Söderqvist first played the music (over a cell phone I think), JAL says he cried because it was perfect.

Words of truth. I like listen to it, while i´m driving in my car.
Tears fall almost instant. Must be funny to watch me in a Traffic jam.

There are simply no words to describe this deeply emotinal masterpiece

I try not to listen to it when I'm out in the public. It brings back a lot of painful and traumatic memories.

Music is definitely the language of the soul!

As soon as I downloaded the OST, I thought, "Okay, I can let it play while I work."

Nope. I found at once that I could either listen to the music or work, but not both. Five years later, the music still chokes me up or makes me grin like an idiot.

After 5 years you still get emotional listening to the soundtrack? Wow!

I grew up playing piano but then I pretty much stopped and haven't played in like 12 years. And now because of masterpieces like LTROI soundtrack and Pans Labyrinth, I'm seriously reconsidering to play piano again.

Good grief! While our conversation was going on, a colleague from many years ago reached out to me on Facebook. Before friending her, I checked out her page. The second thing was:

I friended her and asked her how she knew about LTROI. She doesn't! She ran across it on You Tube and liked it enough to post it. Go Johan Söderqvist!

Actually, that is the one piece from the OST that I don't often care to listen to. Even now when I watch the film, it takes me on the same emotional rollercoaster. I don't want it to end. In fact, it must not end! But of course, it does end. It is good that the film has an ending. But it must not!

And after the ending (which the film must not have) the main theme plays. Listening to the main theme takes me back to that feeling of loss as I helplessly watch the credits roll after bidding farewell to Oskar and Eli on the train.
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.
