Empire Magazine's Film of the Year is awarded to.....

Post by gareth1971 » Thu Nov 26, 2009 3:08 pm

Just got December issue of Empire, and yes, LTROI has been awarded Film of the Year, the first time thay have voted a foreign-language film as the year's best.

Plus, as a bonus, LTROI is also featured as Classic Scene of the Year - the crossing the threshold scene. :D :D :D

That's good. Raises the profile and guess more will be renting of buying the DVD or Bluray.
Låt den rätte komma in in both its printed and celluloid form is a slow acting poison. You will be poisoned white. White from arsenic and innocence.

And hopefully a few more theatrical showings.
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

More kudos for the creative geniuses....yeah! I'd like to see it on the big screen as well. One day, I'm sure, LTROI will acheive cult status and be playing midnights on one of those funky cinemas that used to play "Rocky Horror Picture Show" all the time.

I'd love to see it on the big screen but limited release foreign films never get shown where I am. :(

Aw, I wanted to start this thread.

Hehe, poor British guys, for you LTROI is a 2009 movie. :D

...

And you still got the premier four months earlier than we did in Hungary.
And we danced, on the brink of an unknown future, to an echo from a vanished past.

I don't think I'll be going to any of those "cult" showings. I couldn't bear watching one of my favorite movies become a target for junk.

Would anyone like to speculate what they might throw at the screen?

How about old Rubik's Cubes? :o Candy wrappers? Plastic funnels? Irish Spring soap wrappers? Empty decongestant containers? :)
