Here's the Japanese DVD label:

The Indonesian DVD, though, strangely not using the Indonesian title ("Biarkan Tepat Satu Dalam"):

The title just says "Let the Right One In" written using Japanese phonetic script (katakana) normally used for writing foreign words. I don' think many of the (university) students I teach here would have the faintest idea what this might mean.
It makes me very suspicious of the quality of the subtitles. In fact, I think this is probably true of many of the other releases. I suspect that many have been translated from one of the English versions rather than from Swedish, and with all the possibilities for additional misinterpretations I dare not think what some of the viewers must believe this movie is about.
I have often remarked that some many things in LTROI are so ambiguous that is like a mirror: When people try to fill in the blanks, they end up filling them in with themselves.

It doesn't take much. The Indonesian version talks about "a Love Story of Teenage Vampire"? THAT'll attract an unfortunate demographic!

I'm so disheartened to see much of the [CENSORED] on IMDB. One's posts can be deleted for containing foul language but not for revealing a foul mind, and the thread concerned with "watching kids make love", it seems, just won't die.

There is always this taboo thing which is not always logical.
I got pepper for my Santa Håkan joke, implying your kids sitting on a paedophile's lap. While the Håkan Murder Kit, implying having you kids killed instead, was considered OK. ;)

I just noticed that the publisher of the Russian DVD is "Cinema without frontiers", a Russian branch of the Swedish company Maywin Media AB, which specialises, as it says, in "art-cinema". They have a very fine collection of DVD's on their list but I think this classification more of less guarantees a rather restricted audience for LTROI. No matter how much NaKriege insists that LTROI is "popular culture" ;-) people just keep calling it "art", which is usually not something that many want to see or pay for...
To paraphrase Godard's paraphrase of Hanns Johst: "Whenever I hear the word art, I hide my wallet".

At least the Singapore version just calls it A Vampire Love Story.

Below is the front and rear of the DVD

In Hungary it's Engedj be!, means the same as Let Me In. The novel's title is slightly different, it's called Hívj be!, which means "Invite Me In". I posted covers in previous threads (here and here), now I want to show you a pretty neat teaser poster:

No title here, the text says something like this:

Looking for a friend for 200 years. Soon [she] will knock on your door too.
And we danced, on the brink of an unknown future, to an echo from a vanished past.
