This wouldn't bother me at all at the moment. I haven't had to wield the ban stick yet, but I have studied serrada escrima (for real) and I can whack as fast they the can register.

Besides, then this url would get posted to all those Twilight fan forums out there. Our search engine ranking would skyrocket.

Serrada, well, look. I had been practicing Kenjitsu for some years, but I had to give it up due to an accident which had cost me the left lung. Since then I busy myself basically in creative activities, primarily music and of course filmmaking, but also writing and drawing. Not to mention posting all sorts of stuff on this forum :D .

getting back to the topic of the thread

I believe in the movie that Eli is made more sympathetic then in the book. The purpose of this IMHO is to have the audience become attached to Eli so that the ending has a more significant emotional impact. Lets face it, how many people would be talking about this film if Oskar ran off with a true monster.

What I find interesting about the movie is that the first two major scenes with Eli we are not presented with a sympathetic version of her. The scenes I'm talking about are "I can't be friends with you" and the tirade at Hakan for his failure to bring back blood. For me, the turning point in the film where we see a new sympathetic side of Eli is the Rubik's cube scene. After that scene Eli is presented generally in a sympathetic manner throughout the rest of the movie.

There are 4 scenes in particular which I feel really were well done and used to make the audience sympathetic to Eli. The 4 scenes were:
1) Eli facing the wall to Oskar's apartment and raising her hand as if to tap out a message after promising Hakan she would not see him
2) Her crying after after killing Jocke
3) Eating the candy to please Oskar though she knows it would make her sick
4) Entering Oskar's apartment uninvited.

One totally simple fact why everybody likes Eli is, because she's extremely cute :D .
