Would you let Eli in?

Would you let Eli in?
Eli is a most difficult character for me. She is a monster, a natural disaster, much like hurricane or earthquake. And at the same time, she is innocent 12 year old girl (I know, I know). She just wanted to live. Why can't she live, she ask? How can I raise my hand against such tragic and sad child? And yet, she kills, and kills and kills.
Anyway..
If she was knocking at your door, would you invite her in? Note that most who invited her in ended up dead.

Re: Would you let Eli in?
This subject has been brought up more than once. The primary problem with the question is that you pretty much assume we would know Eli. It's true, we do know Eli - From a work of fiction.
So, if she knocked at your door and you opened and welcomed her, "Hello Eli", she'd immediately know: "Shit, these people know who I am!", run off and never come back. Not very probable, right?
In reality, however, you do not know Eli. Again, if she knocked at your door, all you'd see would be a cute, sad looking girl, asking for help. And, unless you were a very mistrustful person, you'd probably let her in - Game Over.

I didn't know this question was brought up before. I am new around here. Sorry about that. I'll search the thread for more info.
But my question really is would you let her in knowing you know who she is? Even Oskar was almost killed by Eli in the beginning, and it was only the accidental brushing of his hand on her cheek that saved him.

Re: Would you let Eli in?
I basically answered your question: Even if you know her - she doesn't know you. So, if you choose to let her in, you'd have to act as if you never knew her. Because if you reveal to her that you actually know her, she'll most likely turn tail and run immediately. Or she'll freak out and tear you apart. Of course, there's still a chance that she's simply baffled enough to let you take her in and give her a warm place at the fire, but that's a rather slim chance

Yes I would, even if I knew what she was. That may be the last thing I do however
. I do not know how to feel about that possibillity, but one thing I do know, I would never have the heart to reject her.
Perhaps if I offered to procure for her she would spare my life. Perhaps I could just give her some of my blood. Hell, I would even lay down my life for her if she promised not to twist my neck
. I would hope that I somehow make her understand that I have her best intrests at heart. If not, then I just seek comfort in dying for a person that I love as much as Eli, which continued existence I value more than my own pathetic life.

If she shows up at your door without Oskar, you can be quite sure she does't feel any less pathetic than you.

Thank you, GOV. I'm much more interested in the motivation of why one would do one thing or another.
As for me, I would probably say "no". I do not think I am as compassionate as you. You are willing to help her despite the clear danger she presents. My sense of self-preservation is too strong to risk such dangerous person into my life.
As you can tell, I haven't quite made up my mind, completly. And that surprises me. Still, at this point, I would have to say "no".

Re: Would you let Eli in?
Based on what I know about Eli, I would only let her in if she had " tanked up" before she knocked on the door. She probably would leave before she got hungry again. Especially once she found out just how boring I can be.

No way, I'd end up being another meal. She'd have to find some other poor sap

Good idea, Gary. I haven't thought about that. If she is well fed, it wouldn't be so dangerous to let her in. She is just too fascinating of a character not to know more about. Curiosity killed the cat, they say. i hope not. I hope only thing the curiosity kills is few hours.
Aurora, yeah. I think that is most practical approach.
