You're right---but it's well worth it. Just ask anyone here. ;)

Nice review, by the way.
We never stop reading, although every book comes to an end, just as we never stop living, although death is certain. (Roberto Bolaño)

Perhaps that depends on how you're screwed together. I'm thinking/feeling story-wise, so that the art form is just the conveyor of the "idea" or story - in this case film and book is just two different entrances to the same room.

We can quit, we just don't want to. :D
Well, the way I imagine it, Eli and Oskar are happy forever being vampires, working seasonally at a blood-bank with poor book-keeping skills.

Dear Maggiekay
Don't try to fight the infection, just let it happen.
We are the Infected-Resistance is futile, prepare to be assimilated(or infected ) ;)

The days are long gone when I could read every single post here. I missed all of the posts in this thread that happened a week ago, and there are some of you who should be glad that I did. From the beginning, one of the hallmarks of this forum (or so I like to think) has been a tone of civility, even in the midst of disagreement. Read the rules again. Rule #4 states:
This is a community, so debating and discussion is to be expected (and appreciated) but we hold a zero tolerance policy for insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts.
Maggie Kay, I apologize for what this site is becoming.

...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

Wolfchild, I was very surprised at the large amount of people that personally messaged or emailed me apologies due to the brief chaos that happened in this thread. While some of the post were a bit harsh, the positivity that came my way was wonderful. I am certainly not going to focus on the negative in this situation.
Best Regards,

Maggie Kay
