I looked her up, too. Maybe it's the same girl. I dunno.dongregg wrote:I did a search on Jade Krenek. I didn't find any more poetry. I found a Youtube video of a young girl making a cool gymnastic move. The poems posted here are very honest. I'm sorry there aren't more.
Indeed they are very honest and I can relate to them. Plus, considering these are thoughts that weigh on her mind to one degree or another, I'm glad she's found a healthy means of expressing them. That said, I'm a bit sad such worries are on a child's mind. Not to be demeaning, though. I work with children and know they're very smart.
You should look up the miniseries Taken (2002). Dakota Fanning plays a wise beyond her years child (very fitting for her), in part because her character has some alien genes. She narrates the entire series and physically appears in later episodes. The level of depth in her character's quotes have always touched me deeply and even brought me to tears. Very moving and much like poetry. In fact, the ending of the finally had me crying for a half hour...a rarity.
It's a ten episode miniseries, each one being an hour and a half. It spans three generations of three different families that are all interconnected.
It has quite a few similarities to Let the Right One In. Just like Let the Right One In is a vampire movie that isn't really about vampires, Taken is an alien miniseries that isn't really about aliens. Just like Let the Right One in feels magical while being very human, so is Taken. Just like the title Let the Right One In hints at vampire lore while having deeper meanings, Taken hints at alien lore while having deeper meanings. Just like Let the Right One In centers on the journey of children, much of Taken does as well. Plus, both of them are grounded in the relationships between the characters (unlike some films which revolve around more superficial things).
I know the first two episodes are on YouTube in full. There may be more though. I might post something about it in the Off Topic section.
