The part I like is when Hakan is draining blood out of his first victim, and the way he tries to get Ricky the Poodle to go away and then he finally flees reminds me of the Rowan Atkinson character Mr. Bean. And then his reaction on the train when he realized he forgot the jug of blood was priceless, the anticipation that sweet little Eli was not going to be very happy.

That was great. And he's got his bloody poncho out, too. Not the swiftest murderer who ever came down the pike.

That is actually spot on.
In the dvds comments, TA calls Håkan Mr.Bean among serial killers.

That scene is actually one of the funniest in the entire movie in my opinion, Håkan really is the Mr. Bean of serial killers  . You know, they should really make a Simpsons treehouse of horror episode based on LTROI. Maybe with Homer as Håkan and Lisa as Eli. I can see a scene before me.

Homer gets out to get blood, he drain his victim and put his blood in a jar, then he goes home to find Lisa staring at him expectantly.
"I did my job, pleese now, give me a donut."
"Where is the blood?"
"DOH"

That would be really funny  . I don't kow who would be everyone else, but I guess Bart would be Jonny and Jimbo being Jimmy. maybe Lacke would be Moe. I don't know who would really fit as Oskar, maybe Millhouse  .

That is just a random idea I got by reading this thread, I think it would work, especially with a joke involving the crazy cat lady.

I have also finnaly manged to upload an avatar. I settled for one of the bloodier pictures of Lina, capturing both the human and vampiric side of Eli :D .
"I think Eli, just as me, is a fan of multicoloured equines. You need this to get through an eternity of bloodshed."

Well, there actually is a picture with the whole simpson family and some other characters from the series as LTROI characters. Bart as Oskar, Lisa as Lina... erm Eli, Homer as - how else could it be - Håkan, Marge as Ginia (including a cat chewing away at her), Barney Gumble as poor Jocke and some more. I just cannot find that damn pic. I believe MJ knows where it is.

Wasn't the artist one of the IMDB regulars? Was it Lehnrik?
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

Wow, TA is a mr. bean fan. If they ever did a sequel to LTROI, they should have Rowan Atkinson play a bumbling vampire hunter.

And who would play Eli
Actually for some reason Peter Falk (Columbo) popped up in my mind now, a pity he is a bit old.

Slightly off topic: I think the most amusing sections with JAL is in the epilogue to HtU, The Final Handling, several passages have an underlying humour making me giggle so much that I'll have to read it loud to my wife.

Like when Kalle visit Flora (the main characters) for the first time, in September, spotting an lit advent star in the kitchen window: "Are you late or early?"

Bring back Lina as Eli. I am sure they can come up with some explanation why Eli suddenly looks like a teenage girl, maybe because of the effects blood drained from victims who ate either genetically enhanced food, or dairy or beef products from cattle fed w/growth hormones. Something like that might have a strange effect on a vampire.
