LTROI vs LMI Podcast

Re: LTROI vs LMI Podcast
Thanks for the O'Hehir review. I enjoyed it. Now if Ms. Paglia would review it for Salon, I would be wild with excitement.

Re: LTROI vs LMI Podcast
Just got around to listening to this podcast.
My God, she's anoying.
I put up with her for 45 minutes but I had to stop listening when she was completely disingenuous with the debate about the two Virginias. Claiming that she liked and appreciated (Let The Right One In) Virginia making a choice to end her life and not go around killing people, while at the same time dismissing out of hand that this was an example of her moral center, because Alfredson had been "mean" to her previously in the film. Not only that, but (Let Me In) Virginia was apparently showing her moral center by not caring that a minor was perving on her breasts, figure that one out if you can. She was also completely unaware of her double standards of claiming that Eli's "crotch shot" was a disconnected gratuitous shot and yet (Let Me In) Virginia's accidental death that engulfed the whole room and an innocent nurse, somehow was not. Simply by virtue that the guy opposite didn't like Hollywoodesque escalation set pieces, it would seem.
Now I'm in a bad mood

Funny, that was my experience as well. Maybe I've just grown impatient with criticism of LTROI...intrige wrote:Yeeh I listened to it a while back, didn't finnish it..

Re: LTROI vs LMI Podcast
Every now and then I look for new reviews of the book and film on youtube. Just to hear others brag about it, if they don't, I stop watching it.

Re: LTROI vs LMI Podcast
I don't usually get annoyed with criticism of Let The Right One In as the majority, I've found, is simply someone stating their preference. I'm okay with people that just can't get into it, or dislike the ambiguity, or just miss the obvious ... their loss, c'est la vie. But what really grinds my gears, to use an Americanism, is people that earn their living by talking about films but then seek to misrepresent one film in order to make another appear better. Not only that, but to refuse to listen when someone points out that they are factually wrong. What is worse, is for this woman to think that Romeo and Juliet was not a tragedya_contemplative_life wrote:Maybe I've just grown impatient with criticism of LTROI...
Also, I got the distinct impression that she was holding back from accusing Alfredson of misogyny, the majority of time I was listening.
That woman is one egregious film reviewer.

That's me all over. If the review isn't 8 to 10 stars, I don't even look at it, but I still feed on new positive reviews.intrige wrote:Every now and then I look for new reviews of the book and film on youtube. Just to hear others brag about it, if they don't, I stop watching it.
And Jameron, you elegantly skewered that unprincipled reviewer.
